The Jews have suffered perpetually throughout history, not just in the Holocaust. If there was one group that I think does have the market cornered on suffering throughout history, it's the Jews.

The black Africans are steadily killing other black Africans in Africa, in droves. But, white America is the DEBIL. It's completely hypocritical and proves that people don't truly care about Africans unless it's expedient.

That you have been given another chance to come back if you behave yourself :?:

I think that shows that the modding team has some human nature that doesn't suck.

Don't let us down.

I can name MANY things.

People frequently help strangers in a pinch.

People are (most of the time) decent to their families.

Men are frequently gentlemen; and women are frequently graceful ladies. I mean...not fake....but genuine!

I agree, it's the same with the statues. It's an ugly part of our history, but it's true.

What upsets me is when a group of individuals latch on to a moment in time and act as though it's THE moment in time. The only moment in time. When the world has been full of Hitlers from the start, the only change was the ability to get the news out worldwide. Because they have a visual, they ignore all other history documenting the same exact thing happening elsewhere in history. When you do that, you get examples like this. People are so sick of having their own history glossed over, in favor of awfulizing another's in comparison.

Them: "oh, nobody had it as bad as X!"
Me: "oh yeah, tell that to X!"

Until we find a "dark night of the soul" we can all bond over, that's common to everyone, we're just spinning the wheels of history. And taking sides...[/quote]

Main difference was industrialization. In pst whole cities and whole civilizations were wiped out. Thousands and possible millions who knows as they gone and most evidence of them also wiped out.
Genocide isn’t a 19th century invention it was just made more efficient. I’d think past rules would have killed just as many if they’d had the same technology, they had to do with blades weapons, arrows and fire. Nazis found shooting people to be inefficient, imagine blades weapons only. So genocide wasn’t new just genocide on that scale and speed.
A Hitler today could just nuke whole cities such a genocide would be way more today then in ww2. I serious worry one day we’ll find out North Korea has killed millions of people.the technology available today is far more advanced then what the nazis has in 1943.

If you hang out more with more people in real life, you will see that people aren't so bad.

People tend to show their "worse sides" on the Internet.

You don't need statues glorifying monsters to remember history. How many statues of Nazi war criminals does Germany need to have to remember the Holocaust? Those statues were raised to remind some people of the status as lesser citizens during the Jim Crow era and insisting on pretending otherwise is the only attempt to erase history relevant to this conversation.

Why can't we just find other things in the south to be proud of?

There's plenty of great things about the south, contrary to what the rest of the country thinks about us. We have good food and good music. Plus the Civil Rights movement started here in the south and we have some beautiful wildlife. I also enjoy the sense of community that southerners have.

I shouldn't need to remind anyone here that color isn't the only form of oppression though. It's often the most obvious so it's a default platform. I wish more than anything else that folks would dig deep, rather than shouting from the same soapboxes.

People of color are equal long before people with disabilities. And folks are growing tired of the same old SJW subjects... When folks begin to address all rejection, they will eventually resonate with everyone.

Tell that to ordinary black Americans who feel they not only get second rate justice, but who feel their lives are not held in the same regard by officers of the law.

I could agree with you if you included all mitigating factors. If two men (or women) are tucked safely in their homes at 1 am, one is white and one is black, as a rule what's going to happen? Nothing but sleep... If one runs the street, white or black, who has the greater chance of being arrested, getting shot, whatever? The one out running the streets, walking through neighbors where they do not live, etc... It looks like they are looking for trouble. I am fat, white, old... I promise you that if I went wandering around some random neighborhood that wasn't my own, someone would call the cops on me. My saving grace is I couldn't run if my life depended on it. So, I'd probably survive an encounter with the cops. A whipper snapper who wanders the streets, after dark, and then runs like hell or fights, looks suspicious. You NEVER mention circumstances surrounding cop shootings.

* this does not include recent circumstances like the white citizen from Australia who was shot by a black cop after calling for help, or the black citizen who was shot by a white cop in Texas after someone called for a welfare check. I am talking about people, all people with homes, who think wandering the streets is a fun pass time.

I have walked through neighborhoods not my own, and no one has ever called the police on me.
Circumstances? There was a black family arrested recently for loitering - - in their own front yard! How is that justifiable? Blacks are judged differently by cops because law enforcement officers more likely than not see blacks as potential criminals rather than as citizens.

The south has also produced major literary figures, such as William Faulkner, Tennessee Williams, Robert E. Howard, Flannery O'Conner, and many others.

Yeah I can relate. My uncle is a black man and once when he came to visit us my crazy racist neighbor called the cops on him. I thought that was pretty sh***y.

And my favorite southern writer was Harper Lee who wrote To Kill A Mockingbird. Actually she may be the only one whose work I have read, but it's a pretty damn good book!

In a way she reminded me of writer Stephen King (without the horror or scifi). She had a way of writing her book TKAMB that showed what people truly are with both the good intentions and the nasty cruelty. Some of her characters who seemed bad were simply misunderstood, and some of the horrible villains were actually kind of pitiable.
