Russia's geopolitical priorities apparently outweigh their Orthodox Christians nationalism. Can't risk losing access through the Dardanelles I guess...
When will the Armenian people see justice? How many more centuries will it be? How much more blood will be spilled and land will be stolen?
Armenian's Orthodoxy is
Oriental Orthodoxy, which is a totally different ball game than the Russian Orthodoxy (Eastern Orthodox Christianity). They don't even agree on the same nature of Jesus.
Btw, Armenia is the first Christian country in the world.
My mistake, I didn't mean to conflate the two. I forgot most Armenians are miaphysites, not dyophisites. Still, I would have thought the Russian public would have a strong sympathy for fellow 'eastern' Christians. Conservative American christians certainly feel sympathy for Armenians or Copts when they're oppressed by non-Christians, but I've met very few who can actually explain how strongly those Christiana's views differ from their own.

Those with power do what their power permits, and the weak can only acquiesce.
