I'll be by myself Christmas Eve and Day. No get togethers this year. Us Fleabottoms obey the law! KFC sounds good for dinner tonight. I wonder if they'll be open.

Sorry about your hand, hope it's okay.

We had our family Christmas dinner at noon on Christmas Eve. I didn't make it.

One Wednesday night, I went fill gas in the car so I would have enough. When I went to put the nozzle back in the tank, I tripped on the fuel island in the dark. My left hand took most of the hit and the left side of my head took a good bit of the hit.

About the most I can lift in my left hand without pain is my hat (7x beaver felt Resistol).

I nearly went to the emergency room Wednesday night but ended up waiting until Thursday morning. So at noon on Christmas Eve, I was at a hospital 60 miles away waiting for x-rays. I ended up eating Christmas dinner by myself at a KFC near the hospital.

Because the clinic closed at noon, they haven't seen my x-rays yet. I won't find out if there is anything broken until Saturday.

Sorry

Christmas is being just me and the cats.
I'm not married and have no children.
There will be no traveling.
My 80 year old parents live right at 100 miles away and thanks to my physical health decline that is too far for me to drive any more.
And with Mom having had a strike and Dad having Alzheimer's they do not drive at all any more.
My brother and sister-in-law live about 400 miles away.
And because of the covid thing none of us are going out of town.

Our local creative writers group is still having its regular Saturday meeting tomorrow.
And that is a good thing.

Maybe I will buy myself a Christmas present on eBay.

I spent Christmas with my immediate family.

Thanks. I'm trying to figure out how to wash dishes one handed.

It turned out that I fractured the fifth metacarpal on my left hand. Fortunately, it isn't a bad fracture.

The orthopedic surgeon said that I didn't need a cast (I asked if I could have a cast with a hook on it, but he said no) and should just wear a brace as long as I feel like I need it. I have to go back in a month for x-rays to check how it is healing and can expect it to be pretty much normal in six weeks.

It was just us, me and husband and kids, and my parents and our dog.

Had one of the best Christmas days in many years. My in-laws usually host and they have a large family of loud speaking, confident people including successful businessmen and one involved in politics at a high level. I often find it all too much and have become known as the person who will keep the younger kids entertained while the adults talk (as I find the kids easier to deal with so go off with them in the afternoon to help set up presents etc)

This year it was just me, my wife, our child, and in-laws (we are in a support bubble with them as my wife is there twice a day anyway as an unofficial carer)

Nice and quiet, some lovely food, no chaos, me & daughter went off to a different room after lunch to play with her toys

it was bliss
