New NYC “Karen” incident
Puerto Ricans and Cubans are culturally prone think of themselves as white even when they are part black
https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10 ... 0707200604
The moment they step ashore in the US they want to assimilate into the white American community and pass.
I don't have a problem with their choices (it's a free world) but the woman in this story is unambiguously white so I doubt she ever been mistaken for as a POC
She asked all the pepple in hotel lobby to empty their pockets before settling on the only black person in the hotel which suggests she has a "Becky" Brain. The dumb racist biatch didn't realise he's the son of a grammy award winning musician who'se father is a millionaire and can afford something like a mobile phone.
She ran away to avoid police and then contacted the media claiming she was attacked. However video footage clearly shows the madwoman attacking the 14 year old boy. When confronted about the video she has gone back into hiding.
Hopefully the police flush out this rat.
This appears to be an interesting case...Based on what I have seen of the footage, it appears fairly likely that she assaulted the youth, and will possibly be charged for this (also, potentially "unlawful arrest\imprisonment" related to the "he's not leaving. show me the proof" remark she made and attempts to stop him leaving).
With that said, there didn't appear to be anything in the footage (either from the father, or the building's security footage) indicating race was the reason behind her actions...She appears to have had previous issues where police action was required (both alcohol related), so it would be interesting to know whether this was also a contributing factor in her actions with regards to this event.
From what I have seen, it's likely she just saw someone slipping a phone that looked like hers into their pocket, realised she didn't have hers and made the leap to assuming that it was her phone that the person had placed in their pocket, then reacted as shown in the footage.
Nate Broady has an informative\educational overview of the events (the possibility of "robbery"\"attempted robbery" regarding this interaction was one I hadn't considered until I watched his video regarding this).
Similarly, VivaFrei has a a different observation regarding the interactions as well.

I thought the definition of a “Karen” was that of a middle aged white women who calls an authority on a black person for perceived racial reasons. Well now I understand that “Karen” is just a sexist term, not a sexist, racist, and ageist term, good to know
Of course the reason she was called a Karen was that everybody assumed she is white. After all people of color do not frequent hotels in chic neighborhoods such as Soho and call the cops on black people based on racist assumptions, right?
But hey what are inconvenient truths when calling someone a Karen is so effective at proving ones moral superiority and woke bona fides?
It should be noted that people seem to think that the definition of a "karen" is "a middle aged white women who calls an authority on a black person for perceived racial reasons", when all one has to do to be a "Karen" is to have an unreasonable expectation that they demand be upheld. A karen can be any race, any age, any gender.
The reason she was called a "karen" was not because people "thought she was white". She was called a "karen" cos she had an unreasonable reaction to an otherwise minor situation. THAT'S all you have to do to be a "Karen".
Watch enough videos, you'll see every type of "karen" there is - and people call them out for it - there's male karens (darrens / kyles) young karens (karens in training), black karens, latinx karens, liberal karens, conservative karens, anyone can be a karen. All you gotta do is freak out over an unreasonable demand. Which is what she did.
tl;dr being a "karen" has nothing to do with anything except attitude. Any race can be a karen. Any gender can be a karen. Any age can be a karen. The fact that many karens happen to be middle aged white women is merely a coincidence - not a requirement.
Which proves my point. Wokes seem to have an amazing ability to quickly redefine words, to expand definitions, to turn them into slurs to weaponize them to suit their needs. Everybody has had unreasonable reactions and has freaked out over minor things so I guess everybody is a Karen. The reason Miya Ponsotto is widely called a Karen is that she falsely accused(and worse) a black person and because of some similarities to the Amy Cooper case.
I know if my name was Karen right about now I would be freaking out for very reasonable reasons. Why has a women's name and not a man's name so readily become a slur so quickly? I have my strong suspicions.

She does not look unambiguously white. She is unambiguously an a**hole who probably has an assault conviction and another DUI conviction in her future.
2nd DUI Arrest While on Probation
TMZ obtained court records of Ponsetto's DUI arrest from October 3 in Ventura County -- she was charged with DUI, resisting arrest and obstructing or delaying a peace officer or EMT.
She's entered a not guilty plea for that arrest, but the details sound eerily similar to her previous DUI bust. As we first reported, Ponsetto was stopped on May 28 in Malibu and law enforcement sources told us she went wild on cops during the arrest.
Now, on September 28, she ended up pleading no contest, and a judge gave her 3 years probation ... the terms of which call for her to stay out of further legal trouble. So, getting arrested just 5 days later for a 2nd DUI is a serious problem for her.
New details emerge about ‘Soho Karen’ Miya Ponsetto’s penchant for going berserk in hotels
It turns out that 10 months before she allegedly went berserk in a Soho lobby on the day after Christmas, Miya Ponsetto, 22, was busted in February after she and her mom allegedly caused a disturbance at the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills by refusing to leave, according to TMZ.
The Post detailed that California criminal case against Ponsetto and her mom, Nicole, who were slapped with public intoxication charges in the incident.
But TMZ’s account adds new details.
Hotel staff had asked the women to leave, and called the cops when the pair refused — only to have Nicole Ponsetto allegedly assault an officer, pushing and kicking the cop, TMZ reported.
The mom faces an additional charge of battery on a police officer and both women are due in court later this month.
The incident apparently did little to scare Miya Ponsetto straight: Just a day after she was charged with public intoxication for the Peninsula Hotel incident, on May 27, she was slapped with a drunken driving charge in Los Angeles County, where she pleaded no contest, TMZ said.
Ponsetto is currently staying with her mom in California, where The Post snapped her Friday as she picked up a fast-food lunch, telling our lensman, “I don’t know what the problem is here,” and “I’m also Puerto Rican, so thank you.”

Alcohol does make people act strangely, yes.

Kids, don't smoke drink.

She was obviously out of her tree.

That meaning of Karen is derived from an earlier Karen meme, the lady who insists on seeing your boss over nonsense. That meaning is derived from someone's stand-up act. It wasn't random, it evolved from a punchline.

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.
Y'know, since names tend to be either male or female as a convention, though unisex names exist, any meme or social reference is likely based on a male or female name. Does that mean calling someone a Benedict Arnold is a sexist term, since it's a MAN'S name? Or how about saying someone got Borked, is that sexist since it's named after a fella named Bork? Arnold and Bork were both white, so does that make them racist terms, too? What about the term "ugly betty"? Or "Negative Nancy"? Or all the other memes about Good Guy Gus, or Bad Luck Brett or w/e names they were given? "Bye Felicia".
Seems like people tend to pick and choose what to be offended at. I know people actually named karen that aren't offended by the karen meme.
So what if everyone overreacts at minor things at some point? Even *if* true, that doesn't make it acceptable. Guess that means everyone is a karen at some point in their life. Oh well.
Just cos "some people" might subvert a term to their ends doesn't mean one has to help perpetuate it, rather than simply know and understand and accept it's original meaning as intended. Just cos the flag moves doesn't mean one has to move with it. "Karen" means overreacting person. Any gender, any race, any age, any class, can be one.
Anyone can act entitled - but some people have raised it to an art form. Don't wanna be made famous for acting a fool? Don't act a fool. Don't want people to think you're the type of lunatic that would attack a kid? Don't attack a kid. But - in soho karen's case - you don't get to claim you're not the type to do a thing that we literally watched a video of you actually doing. "That's not who I am!" But you did it, so... You don't get to claim "I wasn't me!" any time you do something nasty, in order to get a mulligan on the consequences.
The Karens who demand to see the manager over something petty are women (mostly; there are men who do it, too) who have found that they get their way by doing this.
Wasting the staff and supervision ‘s time, usually during busy hours, delaying and annoying other customers, causing a commotion, all gets them an emotional reward.
They got their way.
They were right.
They were the center of attention.
They were important.
This time, one of them hurt someone.
If something serious does not happen; jail time, forced alcohol/drug rehab, she will continue, will escalate, and someone else will get hurt. Worse.

Are you saying she *first* ask non-blacks to empty their pockets?
Yes and then she proceeded to attack the only non-white person in the lobby
