A company rebranding their product is a sign of a "messed up world"? That seems a bit dramatic.

You don't know what it's like. We're living in a world where people think it's better if gender was assigned. One day I could be walking down the street and I greet a woman politely saying "Good morning, Miss!" and she says "DID YOU JUST ASSUME MY GENDER OR THAT I EVEN HAVE ONE?! ! !" This wokeness crap is gaining traction and it's causing our social and popular culture to enter a period of self-destruction. Good writing and creativity are sacrificed in favor of a political agenda nobody cares about. They keep renewing it for more seasons despite ratings so low that the network, company, or studio is losing money. The critics who panned this crap are blamed because the network says they're bad people and We the people who refuse to watch are blamed because they say we couldn't handle such stunning and brave content. They're the ones who kept marketing this crap and saying it's not for us then threatening us with labels such as racist, sexist, or misogynist if we don't watch. Then there's the lack of originality. I don't mind if they come up with new characters regardless of what background they're given, but could they stop taking existing characters and changing their race, gender, and or sexual orientation?!

Sounds like you need to experience the actual world rather than going down the right wing online pipeline.

No trans person would do that. Too dangerous. Even in this liberal city.

No cis person would care.

Join the real world.

Gender is assigned at birth. That's just a fact. Trans people exist, another fact.

And considering the low number of trans people there actually are, I think the correct response is to tell parents 'this is the sex of your baby' then have parents learn to be ok if the gender doesn't match up with the sex. Maybe by putting less bloody emphasis on it. Doesn't matter if your baby is a 'boy' or 'girl'. As long as it's healthy!

I'm glad I don't have kids though cos it's a lot of responsibility.

A world in which potatoes have no gender is a world I dont wanna live in!

I think that I will just...end it all!! !! !! !! !! !! !

===========

Ok....in all fairness if that were an accurate, and nonmisleading story, it would piss me off that that company is being too woke, or whatever. But they will keep the Mr Potato character. So lets not get histrionic about it.

Unless it was a KKK potato head, it wouldn't piss me off either way.

What pisses me off is that it's a children's toy possibly made by children and almost certainly made by underpaid workers in conditions which wouldn't be allowed in the US (where Hasbro is based).

The rest is just a distraction.

It's just changed for the sake of attention so parents will go out and buy it. $$$.

Then what is the media talking about?
It's CNN. No need to say more.
Agreed. 8)
What does that have to do with anything?

It's not CNN's idea - they're just reporting what Hasbro is doing.
Does it help any if you see the BBC reporting the same story? (hint: they're reporting, just like CNN did)

Has anyone asked the Potato Head what their inherent gender identity is?
I'm sure no one!

What are the most common gender identities of potatos? :chin:

I think a Mr. Hanky is more fun to play with than a Potato Head.

"Seedlings"?

Spuds dont have seedlings. They have "eyes".

Well yeah, but "Won't someone please think of the eyes" didn't read too well.
Besides, you knew what I meant.

Mr Potato Head and Pete the Pepper Set from 1964?

Hmm, well that definitely doesn't look like the stuff of nightmares. 8O

Maybe you would be more entertained with a Mr Hankey?
