I wonder what pumping out all the oil/gas has done? Tectonic plates grinding because they don't have lubrication? I have no idea if they're even in the same layers.. but it makes sense to me that oil plays a role in the earthosphere and we've caused an imbalance there, too.

Thats mind boggling. That we humans have caused the earth to become lopsided and fall over.

What does that even mean?

You cant "fall over" unless there is gravity pulling at you. And the only two major sources of gravity pulling at the earth as a whole are the moon and the sun.

Just thinking aloud while I try to visualize this. How the weight gets redistributed.

Most groundwater comes from ...the ground. Meaning "dry land". Only about 30 percent of the earth's surface is dry land. And most of that dry land is in the northern hemisphere (Europe, Asia, North America). Very little land is south of the equator (Africa, South America, Antarctica, Australia, New Zealand).

So if we pump water out of underground aquifers, use it, then let the used water drain into the sea, in effect we redistribute the weight of the planet from the top of the globe to the bottom (land to sea). Okay. Makes sense.
