What do you think?

CBC story: "Impact of high-potency cannabis rippling through courts, health-care system":
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoo ... -1.7564340

Quote:
"Then there are Marvin's cherry-flavoured edibles. Fox says his co-worker calls this the 'talking to God' section of the store. For just under $100, Marvin's edibles pack 8,000 mg of THC into four candies. That's 2,000 mg of THC in each gummy — 200 times stronger than the federal standard.

Fox has worked at the trailer for just over two years. An experienced cannabis consumer, he said he's tried the higher end products.

"The most I've taken was 1,500 milligrams. I was high for three days," he said."
...
"The Saskatchewan Health Authority reports that the number of visits to hospital emergency departments across the province by people with cannabis-related psychosis has been increasing year to year, from 116 people in 2022 to 152 in 2023 to 165 in 2024."

I don't even touch the non-potent stuff, does that make me a wise Canadian?

Let me know when pot withdrawal causes seizures or death.

People who experience such things are genuinely thought to be abusing alcohol. Consumption of super potent edibles is apparently not considered abuse or dispensaries wouldn't be allowed to offer them for sale.

Well, what is the mortality rate between the two? Alcohol consumption results in significantly more deaths annually compared to marijuana use. While alcohol-related deaths are in the tens of thousands each year, marijuana-related deaths are virtually non-existent.

I'm not sure what your point is. You can also buy super potent alcohol in quantities enough to kill you. Let me know when someone dies of an overdose of the dread drug marihuana.

I'll just say that alcohol never sent me to the ER like the people in the article who bought those products. A glass of Stolichnaya won't send a healthy person to the ER if they just drink it. OTOH a person could die from drinking too much water (as many of us are aware). The problem here is that these things are being sold legally and eating just one ("normal use") could send a healthy person to the ER. Dangerous? You decide!

These are outlier cases, not exactly reflective of what an average user's experience might be.

If an edible sends a person to the ER, perhaps edibles aren't a good idea for them, but that's an individual problem, not a sign that an average, healthy person can't handle edibles.
