French man tied to incel movement arrested for alleged plot to attack women

An 18-year-old French man who claimed affiliation with the misogynist "incel" (involuntary celibate) movement has been arrested and placed under formal investigation on suspicion of planning attacks targeting women, France's National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) said on Wednesday.

This is the first time PNAT has taken on a case linked to the "incel" movement, an online network of men motivated to engage in violence against women who they believe unjustly reject their sexual or romantic advances.

On Tuesday, the PNAT had confirmed it had opened a judicial investigation "against a young man aged 18, claiming to be a member of the incel movement," adding he was being investigated for "associating with terrorist criminals to prepare one or more crimes against people.

A source close to the investigation confirmed French media reports that the suspect was arrested near a school in the Saint-Etienne region in central France and that the man, who was carrying two knives, was suspected of planning to attack women.

Apparently this was the first time the PNAT had been called upon to investigate a man who exclusively identifies as part of the “incel” subculture.

So it appears incels now have "official membership" like their buddies the neo-Nazis.

It's so ironic that the word incel was created by a woman, and it wasn't meant to be hateful.

Well I'm not always sure what to feel about this. At first I got the impression that incel just meant an opinion some men can have against women. So, with this understanding, I sympathised with men on another internet forum who admitted to being incels, but then it made other women there hate me and one even exploded at me saying that I "white-knight" incels, whatever that meant. I reported it to the moderators but they just agreed with them.

So not quite sure what to make of the word. I just hate anyone who harms or kills innocent people, that's all.

I don't get why men in this category are in-cels but women are fem-cels?

^ The word femcel was created just to tell the difference between male and female incels. There is debate in the incel community about whether or not women can even be incels. Mainly because they think women never have trouble "getting any" and that the world is much easier on them.

Yeah, right. Look at how women have been treated in history and still are now in many places in the world and anyone with half a brain can see how just being born with a uterus makes everything so much harder and less safer. According to what this one guy in Canada said a long time ago, you were not a "nice woman" just for wanting to vote.
