I was thinking the same thing.

But those words are such a part of the elementary school vernacular that we don't give it a second thought. And what's wrong with reading banned books?

Considering that people that age are bringing guns to school, why is the book situation even an issue anymore?

it is a situation cause the school suspended her child for calling anouther kid a poo poo head....which I find equally stupid cause like you said kids are bringing guns to school, however they chose to suspend this child for talking about feces but yet they had a book in their library that glorifies feces babble. She fought them about the book because of their hypocracy and its impact on her child's education.

but either way, I still dont understand why they would have such a stupid book in an education setting.

As far as banned books...might be an interesting read

I went to an irish traditional catholic school, heres some venacular i learned by the age this kid was

"F*** you you flaming C**t
you sir are a peice of s**t
go F*** yourself you fa***t
fat f***er

And now we can get books banned because of "poo poo head"?
this lady needs a serious reality check, or I guess I'm from a different world, shes probably a very mannered middle class women living a sheltered existence if this got her into a fury.

i hope her soon reads Catcher in the Rye when he goes to high school.

for the record, I'm just young enough to have read another series by this author when I was 10 or so called "captain underpants" and from my perspective now they taught good moral lessons while being funny for kids that age.

The book is from the same guy who wrote the Captain Underpants books.

correct me if i am wrong…

isn't the issue at hand not about "why ban my kid for saying poo, while accepting a book about poo"….

the school was forced to make a stance:

1. accept poo without a hitch… meaning they banned the kid without a reason... risking a lawsuit…
2. ban all poo @ school… meaning get rid of the poo book, and omit a potential lawsuit...

now the next question should rise…

is poo the same as pooh… ??

Goodness, what kid doesn't run around saying pee-pee poo-poo and giggling maniacally? It's tradition. :?

I don't think I've ever heard my son giggle with such utter abandon as he did while reading those Captain Underpants books.

I have read all those books when I was younger, they were funny but talked about doing the right things. As for suspending a kid for something as small as poo that is a bit much as a wise baby once said "any baby can tell you every one poops"

Kids can say poo poo? What has the world come to? I mean really, forget the News Corp story, forget the hunger and starvation around the world. Kids are saying poo poo! 8O

But yeah, stupid decision. And for the record, Captain Underpants books are awesome, I read them as a kid and they didn't damage my development in any way, shape, or form :P
