Not only that, but he seems to be reading at at least a 4th-grade level.

No one else is bothered that the guy has to read a book, to figure out what to do?

As I recall, the French lost Algeria, and it almost caused a civil war. That's not exactly the lesson I want him to be learning.

I don't know which worries me more. The President may be arriving at his decisions by some kind of thought processes and knowledge? I've never been able to believe that.

What happened was that the French tried to impose a government that the Algerians didn't want. Sound familiar?

By the way, I agree that one should study successes and failures. I just found it ironic that Bush is reading a book about one failure, while mired in a failure of his own.

Sorry, I'm still stuck on the assertion that Bush can read. Is it not possible that he was just holding the book, looking at it, after someone else explained it to him?

I actually have to give credit to Bush being a decently intelligent person. It's just his past experience does not suit him for being President of the United States. Though I don't see why he has to give the impression that he is smart if he wins elections playing the 'good ol' boy' figure.

I think we'll find that, once the dust has settled and the documents declassified, that the real power behind the throne was Cheney and Rumsfeld with input from Bush Sr., leaving Bush Jr just a chairwarmer.
Were it not for the events of Sept. 11 '01, I sincerely believe that Bush would've been little more than a presidential footnote.
He's referred to himself several times as a 'war president' but I think history will show that he was far from it. He seems to have about as much understanding of the complexities and realities of war as my cat does. Hell, my cat's read Sun Tsu (ok, I've read it to him) and I doubt the same can be said for Bush (at the very least, I think my cat paid more attention to the lessons contained therein).
I used to get angry at him, but there's just no point anymore. (Bush, not my cat... I get mad at the cat but for far different reasons). He's going to do as he damn well pleases and to hell with the consequences and cost. It's kind of like watching a determined alcoholic flush their life down the toilet, except that the repercussions are much greater.

I think he's insane, Bush is completely out of touch with things. I must admitt I would be a better president, at least I'd be able to kill all the Iraq scum using an Atomic bomb, well actually like 9... we could totally irradiate Iraq then nobody would fight over it anymore, in the meanwhile I'd do the same to the surrounding trash countries that have no electricity, better to die sooner rather than be tortured by wannabie dictators.

Also I'd destroy Africa, it's useless :-Z~
