Actually, the bug shellac is the only one that really sounds gross and I don't like jelly beans, anyway. Gelatin and Lanolin have been around forever and if the wax is on my floss, why should I care if it's in candy, too?

If you start analyzing the microscopic amounts of trace elements in your food that might make you sick or kill you if you ate a whole truckload, you're going to develop paranoid neuroses and never sleep again. :roll:

Nobody's going to stop me from eating peanut butter cups. I don't eat sweets, but when I do, I loves me some Reese's. :P

What is the problem with gelatin, wax, or even lanolin based products? Is it because people think it is gross how we get gelatin? Why is a plant wax considered weird?

Wow, scary. I'm doing the autoimmune paleo protocol (a very strict version of the paleo diet geared towards treating certain medical conditions) and this makes me feel a lot less deprived to see what I'm 'missing out on.'

My family would never buy peeps,they thought they were trashy and said I'd get worms from them.The neighborhood kids had them,I ate them anyway,took a chance on the worms.
They always got me the traditional giant choclate bunny and choclate eggs.I never liked jelly beans,the texture bothers me.

Peeps, as in those yellow marshmallow things?
How could you get worms from them??
I never was partial to them but it never occurred to me that they were trashy, let alone carried worms? I preferred a big chocolate rabbit.

^^I think that at that time peeps were a newer candy,they wouldn't let me have any candy unless it was a name brand.They seemed to worry about worms in strange candy,I have no idea why.I know that I got dosed with Fletcher's Castoria all the time if I had a coated tongue.

The picture of "Peeps" posted in another thread made them look like they're entirely made of chemicals.
Reminds me of the color a friend once said, "radioactive orange."

^^The folks were suspicious of any food that wasn't a natural color. :D They wouldn't even buy Hostess twinkles or ding dongs,only baked goods from the bakery.In a way this was actually a good thing,I suppose I didn't get near the dose of chemicals my friends did.

I guess that ruled out most breakfast cereals intended for kids.
