"Execute order #66" - LOL

What happens when the day comes when if you are on the spectrum and you are not allowed to do X until you get a brain implant?

Brain implants! I do hope I live to be able to augment my failing brain at some point.

I actually can't wait. RAM upgrade? Yes please. If our brains can be wired up and enhanced then so can our senses. I'll be the first in line for ocular and visual processing implants! [/childishexcitement]

Whether others want a 'cure' or no is up to them, but I intend to keep my ASD. I've come to accept it not as a defect.

I'm pretty sure this is intended to be a brain regulating device, not an upgrade. It's basically meant to be used for mind control. It's insane that the pentagon is actually funding this. This country is f***ing crazy! It sounds like something that the Nazis would have tried to invent, if they had the technology back in the 1940s. This is why we have to start preparing for a resistance. I'm not going to let them kidnap me and implant their mind control device in my brain. I'd much rather die fighting, than be turned into a mindless zombie.

Very true, but I'm still excited about any advances in neural interfaces.

Just pray the OS isn't by Microsoft.

I think this could be great. Bio mechanical interfaces, I think, will be as common as drugs in the future. The technology will probably be used for both good and evil, but it already exists. Sign me up for enhancement!

It'd be wonderful for AS at least.

EM stimulation of certain neural pathways has proven to 'cure' many of AS socializing issues. If an implant could do that 24/7.. i'd be first in line to get a hole drilled in my skull.

They offered me a slot in a clinical trial for a neural implant to deal with my epilepsy a few years back. I had a few things that disqualified me in the end. They have tried to talk me into just going under the knife so they can play hack and slash with the most problematic spots, but I think I'll wait for further technological advances.

Although if it is a Windows based implant, make sure you get it on the right release; stick to the every other rule:
Windows 8 = suckage
Windows 7 = good
Windows Vista = suckage
Windows XP = good
Windows ME = suckage
Windows 98 = good
Windows 95 = the worst suckage of all time
Windows 3 (especially 3.1) = good
Windows 2 = suckage
Windows 1.0 = the best DOS based system ever!

I was gonna say... nobody in their right mind would let Microsoft near anything wet-wired... but then again Windows is commonplace in hospitals - which is quite frankly terrifying.

^

I think it was the heavy reliance on the mouse/screen interface of Windows 1 combined with the extremely logical language of DOS that did it for me.

this has a lot of opportunity for good but a huge opportunity for evil. if they do brain implants they should be as open sourced as possible to keep evil away

this is also going to make a lot of schizophrenics even more paranoid. would it be paranoia if its really happening though?

I want to make some brain enhancing devices too.

Is this the mark of the beast on the forehead they're talking about? Mind control implants sounds about right. Your next checkup at the Doctor's office could be your last before they take away your free will. Will the insurance cover it? For the mark on the back of the hand, I suppose you have to go to the DMV for that.
Just a little joke.
