Naked man superglued to exercise bike

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A gang stripped a South African man before supergluing him to an exercise bicycle while they ransacked his house, according to a report Thursday.

SAPA news agency said the attackers, dressed in suits, hijacked a man in his 50s and forced him at gunpoint to take them to his home in Johannesburg.

"The victim was then forced to strip, after which he was superglued to the seat of an exercise bicycle, his hands were superglued, as were his feet and then his mouth was superglued shut," SAPA quoted Mark Stokoe, a spokesman for emergency services Netcare 911, as saying.

The man was rescued about three hours later when his partner arrived home, SAPA said.

South Africa is battling one of the world's highest crime rates which has prompted concerns that violence might mar the 2010 soccer World Cup, which the country is due to host.

A police spokesman could not immediately comment on the report. No one at Netcare 911 could be reached.

The criminals should be shot for such heinous crimes.

Wasn't it South Africa, last year, when that gay man superglued his lover and a guy he was cheating with together, naked? What is it with South Africa, naked men and superglue?

That's the most daft thing that I've read, since that "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" story.

The crime sounds like the torture of this man was the real goal of the criminals. My guess this was some homosexual love triangle gone wrong based on the nature of the crime.

They call it South Afirica for a reason you know.

Oh ahahahah, sorry, I cannot help but giggle at this, the visuals it produces. but seriously, must have been very uncomfortable, and difficult to unstickh him.

Ain't South Africa one of the most right-wing countries in the world without becoming fascist? And aren't they allowed to put boobytraps in cars to prevent car theft?

I wouldn't go that far, South Africa still has freedom of the speech, freedom of the press, ect...There have been some rather unsettling developments in regards to the African National Congress seemingly attempting to gain more of a monopoly over the country. Also, the ANC is left wing rather then right wing.

I'm giggling over the visuals, too. But I can't imagine how painful it would be to have to get un-glued to the bicycle seat (all the hairs involved). It would probably be 100X worse for a man, too.

Oh well. At least they didn't nail him to the bicycle.
