"Stark Raving Dad" removed from Simpsons circulation

First the whole Apu thing and now this?

This isn't "The Principal and the Pauper" we're talking about, this is one of the most well-loved and critically acclaimed episodes. They're still showing the Naked Gun movies, despite all that happened with OJ. They're about to release a movie about Charles Manson. Should it be scuttled out of respect for Sharon Tate's family?

My point is this: The allegations against MJ have been going on for over 25 years, and he was acquitted of any and all crimes. We're never going to know whether he did what he supposedly did. Yet a documentary about said allegations airs, so we must pretend his positive cultural impacts never happened?

I'm reminded of Mr. Jellybean's funeral from Rick & Morty. People will get more from good MJ brought to us rather than whatever dark stuff he was involved in.

This is sheer madness. The Simpsons has been terrible for over 15 years anyway.

You're not missing out on any enlightenment, to say the least. But if you're looking for ordinary mindless entertainment, then The Simpsons may be what you're looking for.

For 10 years it was the best show in the world in my opinion.

The Simpsons, up to the mild 90s, was far from mindless, and was one of the smartest show back then: now the current show has become mindless, sadly; at least it was when I gave up on new episodes years ago.

That is just ridiculous. Also if this its so bad for this episode to exist, why didn't they remove it the first time the documentary aired? I remember seeing that when I was a teenager I think so why didn't they remove the episode then.

Leaving Neverland aired earlier this week. The question is why they didn’t pull the episode when the allegations first started.

Although, as Mr Powell rightly pointed out, the episodes released over the past fifteen years or so have been garbage, The Simpsons, in its day, was the best show of its kind in television - infinitely preferable to commonplace stuff like Downtown Abbey.
