Question for the Trump fan club: if Trump is so innocent of any wrong doing, why is he so desperate to hide his tax returns?

It is better to conceal one's tax-returns and be thought of as a tax-cheat, than to release one's tax-returns and remove all doubts.

I don't get the prevailing notion that he's hiding something illegal, considering his returns were thoroughly investigated by the Internal Revenue Service and apparently passed muster.

Trump is a public person holding public office. If a crime or crimes were committed, then we the American public have the right to know.

If crimes were committed the government agency that investigates his returns would be aware of it.

Not a member of the Trump cult, but here goes:

There is no line item on the tax form for things like foreign emoluments. Just looking at tax forms is unlikely to find much about such wrongdoing.

More likely, Trump probably pays very little or no taxes and is afraid that if that becomes public, it will turn voters against him. It has been reported that a number of years ago he thought about publishing his tax forms as a way of bragging to others how little taxes he pays. Trump wants to be seen as smarter than everyone else.

With as many pages as his tax returns are as well as the many times as many pages of supporting documentation, it would probably be an enormous task to dig out any real problems. His filings are probably really aggressive and hey probably find many small issues every year (small to him, enormous to most of us) and he just pays them and whatever interest is charged. If so, they would be lucky to catch even 1% of the issues.

Face it. It's much easier for them to go after the people with lower middle class incomes and lower because they don't have all the tax experts hiding everything from the government.

I am going to take for granted that the President of the United States probably gets special attention paid to him. Especially considering the numerous accusations being made against him by the Democrat senate and congress etc. I could be wrong, but I doubt his returns are just part of the workload of some average IRS agent. Especially since his returns are such a big huge deal to those Democrat officials.

Trump is good at turning stuff used against him into a publicity stunt. He'll play cat and mouse for as long as possible.

Probably when/if his tax returns are made public it will be a nothing burger like the Mueller report and Al Capone's Vault.

We can agree on one thing...his desire to hide his tax return are driven by self-interest...not the public interest

But he didn't become a billionaire by being mother Theresa....

My other theory is his tax returns will show how much he hides in his children's trust funds and offshore tax write-offs to avoid paying his fair share of tax.
