My NT sister and I grew up watching Jeopardy when we were kids.

We became fans of him and the show almost immediately after watching it for the first time.

now he can shoptalk with Art Fleming in Heaven. Alex was a rare combination of genuine kindness, brilliance, and above all, HUMOR. he was so good with funny accents and jokes, he could have been a standup comic also as a sideline. RIP. :( news of this was expected but still it hit me hard. he was a brilliant light in a gloomy world. he lit the darkness rather than curse it.

a respectful period IMHO would be a year. then the new edition should be totally retooled.

interesting that both art fleming [original host in the 70s] and alex trebek, who were friends, should both die of the same ailment.

i hope ken jennings can have a similar mixture of erudition and humor as Alex. he was one of a kind in that respect.

Why not Will Ferrell? He's already hosted Jeopardy. 8)

One thing that always impressed me about Mr. Trebek was his low-key approach to socializing with the guests -- no snark, no stand-up routine, no endless banter -- it was always about giving his guests their opportunity to show how clever they were.

I fear that if Mr. Ferrel was to host Jeopardy! on a regular basis, it would soon devolve into the "Will Ferrel Comedy Show" and be cancelled within a short few weeks.
