Emergence of a Deadly Coronavirus
One possible silver lining for me out of this is that I will assert my decision not to shake the hands of people. Even though things to go back to normal at some point, I feel I should be able to refrain from shaking people's hands for the rest of my life and feel fine that. Business acquaintance or stranger? Thumbs up sign from me from now on. People at church? Peace sign from me from now on. I've always hated shaking hands; I mean really hate it. I feel more free now in a sense.
I wasn't aware of it, but my Dad told me that my maternal grandfather refused to shake people's hands in church his whole life which back at that time was socially unacceptable. My grandfather displayed many autistic traits during his lifetime.

Hi Magna! I hope you are having a good day!
It's interesting to see the NT world in a tailspin because they might have to act autistic for a while. They might need to experience social anxiety, sensory phobias (touch), and heaven forbid stay home for a couple of weeks. Not to downplay the serious reasons behind this, but most autistic people have lived in quasi-lockdown mode for most of their adult lives by making choices to protect their personal space. We've recommended work-from-home programs for decades but for the most part, this idea was rejected and we were given antidepressants so we'd want to rejoin the "real world". Now that the world-at-large is thinking like we do, they're also taking credit for the revelations. It's very frustrating to me in that regard.

I agree with you 100%!
Even though Obama was an ex lawyer this isn't fair in any way and I dont know why a semi senile (not that senility is anyones fault) person is heading the most powerful nation in the world with the most military bases in the world . even our principal n many teachers were ex army ppl from US army in my school in Saudi Arabia n he said he had been stationed in my birth city...
My point is that someone shouldnt have this much authority n power ruling a country that powerful... when the person is clearly almost or already senile...

.i was thinking the same
Even the handshaking thing ..
My sons therapist said yesterday that the Japanese have been bowing fr centuries so why can't ppl do that
because she said exchanging handshakes fr elbow tapping as per EU is stupid since we now cough into our arms n elbows.. Just dont touch n bow like japanese or salutation greeting like her Lebanese friend

Exactly on the elbow taps.
But they act like it is an affront so you have to
There was someone at church some time back that was so offended that I waved at him with a smile rather than shaking his hand that he continued to thrust his hand in my direction basically demanding that I shake it. I'll no longer shake hands and I feel liberated in a way because of that decision. Anyone who is offended will have to just get over it.

I do a beaming, gracious smile and subtle head nod of recognition, with a bit of curtsy. Almost a mini bow.
The worst to me is hugs and air kisses. I've never gone for that. Keep your hands off me, world!

Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro tests positive for coronavirus days after Trump meeting
“He waits for the result of the counter-proof this Friday (13) to confirm the contamination. There is tension in the air. Despite spending quiet time on TV, and asking the people to avoid the streets (a clear cancellation of the call for Sunday’s pro-government demonstrations), Bolsonaro does not hide the evidence,” according to a translation in the local news outlet Jornal Odia.
“He appeared in a mask this morning and did not leave the Palácio da Alvorada, the official residence.”
Bolsonaro returned to Brazil this week after meeting Saturday with President Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Miami.
The far-right leader had been being monitored for the deadly bug that has spread to at least 34 people in the Latin American country, Reuters reported, citing the Brazilian newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo.
Bolsonaro previously tried to downplay the worldwide health threat Tuesday during a visit to Miami, Florida.
“During the past year, obviously, we have had moments of crisis. A lot of that is fantasy. And coronavirus, which is not [what] all the mainstream media makes it out to be,” he said.
The White House said earlier in the week that Trump was in “excellent health” after shaking hands with a congressman exposed to the virus.
Bolsonaro’s communications director, Fábio Wajngarten, who attended weekend events with Trump in Florida, also has tested positive for the coronavirus — marking the first time that someone known to have the virus was in close proximity to the president.
Trump does not plan to be tested or go into self-quarantine, the White House has said.
“Both the President and Vice President had almost no interactions with the individual who tested positive and do not require being tested at this time,” White House communications chief Stephanie Grisham has said.
Trump has had too many probable exposures, he is probably infected.

Ooh that's a good idea. It comes off as a bit humourous too. In any case, people will keep you in good stead and their mood won't be ruined because you refused to shake hands...
For Magna he can even adjust it to a pretend salute done in the same charming way.
Maybe wear a hat for the purpose and remove it like in olden days. That would charm anyone.
