Shooting at LGBT nightclub in Florida, 20 injured
A lot of LGBT Americans own firearms; probably about the same as all Americans. I suspect that this event will convince more of those who don't already own firearms will choose to do so.

Bigotry covers religion. And no there are not 750 some million terrorists out there. Because that's what 49 percent would mean. There are over a billion and a half Muslims on this planet. And just like Christianity there ate many different variations, and yes the vast majority are peaceful. Especially in the United States
And the first amendment is only talking about the government. It does not mean I can't criticize someone else's speech. Isn't that my free speech right? I didn't say she should be punished for what she wrote.
I think you should look more into the claims you're making as they are wildly inaccurate.

I never claimed 750 million muslims are terrorists, I claimed that 750 Muslims have some views that we would call 'extreme'. Would you not consider Shariah Law extreme? I'm simply stating the facts here, as several LIBERAL leaning pundits, including Bill Maher, have stated. Shockingly, this sect of Islam where this many people have "extremist views" (Middle east) is also where most extremist groups stem from. Noticing a pattern?
As for first amendment, all I have to say is this: http://www.thepeoplescube.com/red/riche ... e364b3.gif - That's my beef with your argument on this thread. You're not countering her argument, you're just accusing her of being a bigot/racist and not actually addressing her points.

A lot of Muslims have views that Westeners would consider extreme. It seems that even mainstream Islam is not compatible with the West.
I don't know if we should ban them from entering the country or not, but we have a president who won't even use the term "radical Islam." He really is weak.
Most of these radicals are Salafis who believe the Hadiths are just a valid as the Koran. They are the ones who form ISIS and Al Qaeda.
If these people refuse to leave the Dark Ages behind, preventing them from coming here seems less and less like a crazy solution.

Docfox,
That meme is a bit inaccurate as to what happened. Angela has a history of making offensive remarks here so when I see it I all her out on it.
I did misread your first statement, my apologies on that.
And you know what, I don't disagree with a lot of what you are saying. And it's nowhere near what Angela was saying. You are being far more nuanced than she was.
I think the problem is more with the region rather than the religion. I honestly don't think it would matter what religion they followed. If the religions of the areas were switched, I don't think there would be much of a difference. I guess what I'm trying to say I that it's more a result of severe poverty and harsh living conditions than religion.
One of the main reasons why the President and others don't want to mention Islam is because they don't want to associate terror with that religion. Many people think we are at war with Islam itself and The President doesn't even want to come close to giving off that impression. I think it's the same thing to say anybody who murders an abortion doctor in the name of "God" is not a real christian. That's not to say that it wasn't derived from the main religion. So yeah, I actually don't think there is that big of a difference between our positions.
I notice you're not crawling up Xeno's ass for saying almost exactly that in this same thread...
I can't respond to everything. And Nurseangela is just easier to notice.

Qatar GDP/Capita: 93,714.06 (Literally a higher GDP/Capita than the United States)
United Arab Emirates GDP/Capita: 43,048.85 (Slightly less than U.S, Still more than most of europe.)
Saudi Arabia GDP/Capita: 25,961.81 (Still 5-6x the GDP/Capita of the rest of the middle east and a lot of European nations.)
If the problem was abstract poverty and harsh living conditions, none of these nations would be on human rights' watch lists.

Every time I laughed to blend in when I heard a gay joke.
Every time I stayed silent when someone exclaimed that's so gay.
Every time I turned a blind eye to bigotry from friends and colleagues.
Every time I failed to hold elected officials to account.
Every time I stayed invisible when I needed to be seen.
We are all to blame for the murders of 50 innocent people today. And for the thousands who are assaulted every year.
Total BS. The person who did it is responsible and maybe if any authority screwed up they share a small percentage of the blame. If he followed ISIS that was his choice. If 99 percent of Americans were not bigots, enablers, and held elected officials feet to the fire and got togeather to sing Kumbya everyday the guy would not have become radicilized, hated gays etc.?
Everybody is not controlable.

I didn't say those were the only reasons. Just some of the main ones from my perspective. The other thing is they aren't the only ones with human rights violations. That happens with countries of all religions.
I think that the region is still stuck in the past relative to us when it comes to human rights.
I think we're having a chicken or egg argument here. Whether there's something in the religion that leads to more extremism or that extremists latch on to Islam to justify their actions. Let me know I'm misunderstanding what you're saying.
As far as we know at this moment in time, the sole cause of those deaths is the shooter himself - HE chose his ideology, HE chose to (legally) buy the firearms and ammo, HE chose to bring them to the club, and HE chose to shoot his victims.
No one else is to blame.
if the shooter was white and wearing a Make America Great Again hat everyone would be blaming christian "anti-gay rhetoric".
Hell, people are already doing that in this very thread.

Screw the "What ifs". We should all stick to the facts as we know them, and stop feeding the conspiracy theorists.
Thank you for agreeing, but what we're saying is you don't just get behind in human rights. This comes with being "behind us" culturally, so to speak. You don't have a population that condones human right's abuses without a good reason.
Forgive the comparison if it sounds staunch, but this is the reason the U.S didin't let nazi's emigrate to the U.S en mass when Nazi Germany was around (before WW2) - They bring the false culture and false beliefs with them, and it causes problems wherever they go.
I don't have a easy solution for this, but frankly I'm not sure how comfortable I am with someone from say Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc living next door to me if he still believes what he was likely to believe in the aforementioned countries.
