I have no objection to the pro-Trump supporters debating the issues per se, but the constant derailments are not debate, they appear more like deliberate diversion to derail, and in some cases, trolling.

Who cares..? lol let them have their fun. All they're doing is setting themselves up for the most epic disappointment when Trump leaves office abruptly in the not so distant future & it's gonna be hilarious to watch them lose their s**t over the fact that their Hater in Chief isn't going to finish his first term, let alone have a chance at a second.

i was simply showing the american public that we are not all idiots down here. we do have intelligent debate on what we want our country to be.
and the subject matter of what i posted is very close to the philosophy that trump holds, but dares not say.
trumps state of the union address down here was applauded, and our media highlighted the stoney lack of agreement from the democrats and they all looked ugly and cast in concrete with their immovable stances.
that is what our news highlighted.
the absolute refusal of the democrats to be in any way swayed by his speech.
he invited them to be involved in decision making processes and they flatly refused.

dare not say? I don't get it?
What's so taboo that you need Trump to speak for you?
I thought we Aussies pride ourselves for "saying it as it is"?

Often derailment has more to do with the strenth of the orginal topic. If it's weak it's going to get played out and the thread will either die or derail into other forms of discussion. Although I'm noticing here the derailed discussion is still about Trump more or less as a opposed to say figure skating.

These same sentiments exist in reverse of course. The epic disappoint when russiagate etc fails to provide results and so on.

Oooh, is it time to talk about Adam Rippon - the out gay US Olympic figure skater who ripped Pence' record on LGBT rights?

He's pretty cute.

No. That belongs in a separate thread.

Obviousy time will tell, but I'd say the statistical probability is on my side. There is no way that one of these umpteen different scandals isn't going to end his presidency prematurely.

Hell, maybe that's why he keeps doing all this s**t. He's hoping one of these things is his ticket out of office "against his will," so he doesn't have to quit. Apparently he was white as a ghost after learning he'd won the election, as he never expected to & didn't want to win. Sooo, maybe he his trying to get himself tossed out.

That's been one of the ongoing speculations/hopes since 2016.

Thing is, that makes Pence potus. So really the anti-trumps, democrats and liberals et al aren't going to gain much of a victory, and I imagine the other side won't be shedding many tears.

He does that s**t because being who he is has given him major reward after massive reward. I do not think he will or wants to quit. In his world of winners and losers having to leave is the ultimate loss to people he views as lesser. If it comes to that it is going to be very ugly, they are going to have to remove him by physical force. During impeachment or whatever the world will be at significant risk of incineration due to his immaturity.

In response to some of the previous posts (I am unsure if they were directed at all participants within the thread, or, me) but, I, personally, have never read the Washington Post, nor do I read news articles pertaining to politics, nor do I watch any news. I do, however, listen to public radio on my way to work, on occasion, and I have read several WP posts pertaining to politics, and, WP political posts have provided me with most of the knowledge I have obtained. I know that could seem ignorant, but, I am one who becomes extremely effected by certain types of news, thus, I tend to stay away from it.

I don't know details of what has happened, nor do I want to, nor do I judge. I do know that the first lady is what I described in my initial post, and I do hope that she and her son fare well. I don't understand how anyone can defend the president, at this juncture. Everything is happening, right in front of our eyes. We aren't simply hearing rumors, and what is taking place is real, and not mere, 'allegations', as someone mentioned. Everything is evolving so fast. I cannot believe the segregation related issues being passed. It is sickening to me. I want to leave the US at this point, however, I still have a shred of hope. Hope that the entity will soon be removed from office, never to return. That is all.

But they are only allegations. News is not news anymore. It's tribalism. And if it's like they aren't allegations and I missed something, the "news" shouldn't present their s**t with "allegations of Trump doing Monica" or whatever her name was.

Obstruction of justice sounds like it could be a winner.. and via the legal system.
