Not at all comparable. Trump will still be President tomorrow and will still be after he is acquitted. Somebody on the FiveThirtyEight podcast said it best this impeachment is like watching a recording of a game you know the result of. This whole thing is one big exercise of virtue signaling for both sides.

Now if for some reason most of us are wrong and the Democrats fail to impeach him, the aftermath would be “interesting”.

Oh man is that all? In that case I'll be playing my video game instead.

Are the people revolting yet? Or is it just Trump?

After he's impeached the democrats will all light up a cigarette and ask each other "was it good for you too?"

Impeachment is just an indictment.

He will be tried by a friendly Senate and a somewhat friendly Chief Justice.

What is the reason for his (Trump’s) rhetoric about “revolt”?

Trump is obviously living under some delusion.

Donald Trump can throw the world's most dramatic "Real Housewives" hissy fit.  He can ceaselessly whine like the entitled Frank Burns knockoff he is until even the bots and trolls stop following his tweets.  He can shout "perfect call!" until the words lose all meaning.  No matter what he does, no matter how loudly he struggles to change the subject or to derail the process, Donald Trump will be impeached for obstructing Congress and abusing the power of the presidency, and the scathing words contained in those articles will live forever.  In the end, the word "impeached" will feature prominently in the first line of his eventual obituary.  Guaranteed.

History will forever instruct posterity that Donald Trump "... has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States."

Every Democrat running for office next year, especially the leading candidates for president, ought to memorize the above line from Article II and repeat it during every speech, every rally, every town hall and every cable news hit.  It perfectly summarizes the Trump crisis in razor-sharp prose.  Every word must become burned into the minds of voters with a frequency and intensity that makes "No collusion!" look rare and forgettable.

Of course. That's the whole idea behind an impeachment that they know won't result in a conviction. In other words, ulterior motives.

Dude, they're all politicians, so everything they do or say has an ulterior motive!

I mean, fat babies fart, bears sleep in the woods, the Pope is Catholic, and Politicians have ulterior motives, right?

Thin babies fart, too....

I wouldn't be surprised if some lawyer could propose that Trump be charged with advocating insurrection, based on his remarks, and past remarks on Twitter.

Nothing Americans eat would surprise me but no... peach mint popcorn - never. you're having me on. That would be like cheddar ice cream or french fries with caramel hazelnut sauce.

We had a president who was corrupt too, was forced out and he may possibly still be brought to justice for all his past misdemeanours although the odds are he'll delay the process until he eventually dies. Like most politicians he says it's a conspiracy against him.

Trump will continue to lie and insist that he and Rudy Giuliani are "crime fighters", weeding out corruption, despite the fact that Trump, while the impeachment inquiry was underway, was forced to pay $2 million in damages to eight charities (e.g., Army Emergency Relief, the Children's Aid Society, Citymeals on Wheels, Give an Hour, Martha's Table, the United Negro College Fund, the United Way of the National Capital Area, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum) for defrauding them all with his bogus Trump Foundation, while his kids, Don Jr., Ivanka and Eric, were ordered to attend mandatory do-not-commit-fraud classes due to the scams they had perpetrated.

His paranoiac ravings about impeachment were a mere smokescreen to hide these facts.

Trump's loyal fanbase can make a vigil with tikki torches outside a federal prison if the law is upheld
