Hey Sly.

You like Trump for your reasons. I don't like Trump for my reasons.

People like political figures, usually, because of their relevance to their individual lives.

You feel Trump would prevent your rights from being violated. I understand that.

What I don't like about Trump----is that he is seeking to circumvent the Constitution to achieve his ends. And that he is screwing with our image amongst the world's leaders through his isolationism and the way he goes about his business.

When he talked about having China investigate the Bidens as well as Ukraine, he did it right in front of the Finnish president.

I think it depends on who he runs against and how that goes. I'm sure there is a vast number of people who do not vote democrat vs republican. They just pick who they like the bast. Or more likely they don't pick the one they like the least. And preference is going to be based on who they think will be in their immediate personal best interest.
If the economy is doing well and businesses are doing well and people have jobs, and the person running against him puts a lot of emphasis on immigration and the green new deal and so on, then he might end up winning. Depending on how the russia/ukrainegate impeachment deal works out could be a big determining factor, either against him or in his favor.

These days, many people pick who they dislike the least. I know I've done that plenty of times.

Any moderate relatively likable democrat (cough* Joe Biden cough*) will very likely beat Donald Trump, and with relative ease. A highly unlikable Democrat (Hillary Clinton), or far left Democrat (Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders) will likely be pulled into a dog fight with him unless certain things happen:

1) The impeachment scandal reaches a fever pitch where most of the country thinks Trump should be removed from office.

2) The economy goes into recession.

If either of those two things happen it won't matter who the Democrats nominate. They'lk win.

The problem with Biden is he seems to be having mental facility issues. If he gets all stammery and tongue-tied like Jeb Bush did, I think Trump will shred Biden the way he shredded Jeb and all the other republicans who ran for the nomination. Isn't Trump already calling Biden "stuttering Joe"?

Edit: I pulled up a random video of him speaking and he has a problem upstairs my opinion.

Trump has a way with coming up with schoolyard sobriquets.

And they seem effective.

The thing with Trump is he really isn't behaving in a way that he wasn't already known for.

How does it make him look dumb when it appears to be so effective.

Who doesn't need tax cuts?

The wealthiest 5%

Many wealthy people need more money.

It's part of their personality.

In America, we have tv shows like "Shark Tank" where mega-rich people try and get even richer.

What are the odds that in the debates, a subliminal Morse code message is sent to viewers after bleeping out Trump's arguments?

Ezra I am concerned about Biden's mental abilities since it definitely seems like he's missing a step. For that reason, I'd rather the democrat nominee be Klobuchar or Buttigieg.

I don't agree with the comparison to Bush and the primaries. First of all Biden has run a stronger campaign than Bush ever did. Secondly, expectations seem to be so low for Biden's debate performances when he puts together a competent debate people are surprised.

That works against Trump as well. If people expect him to rip Biden to shreds and he only roughs him up a little it will hurt Trump.

Any leader of any sort of dignity doesn't resort to schoolyard insults.

That's just the way I feel about it.

He never grew up from being that 13-year-old kid bullying the younger kids in the schoolyard.

If Trump is calling Biden "stuttering Joe" then I can only imagine what names he would have for your other candidates.

If the schoolyard taunts are an effective tool, it doesn't speak much for some of those who decide who is President.

I am waiting for Trump to bring people like Mike Judge and Trey Parker on board with his staff.
