Republicans have claimed throughout the process that there was no “quid pro quo” because Trump eventually released the money to Ukraine without getting anything in return.
That was already a flimsy claim; Trump didn’t release the money until Sept. 11, two days after House Democrats launched a public investigation into the matter and only one day before the House voted to begin what would turn into the impeachment inquiry. And the news suggests Trump kept pushing to extort Ukraine even after he knew people within his administration were raising alarms about his actions.
Other new details paint a picture of inter-agency confusion and unrest over Trump’s move to withhold military aid from Ukraine.
Transcripts released by the House Intelligence Committee Tuesday show that officials at the Office of Management and Budget were kept in the dark for months about why that money was withheld, and that the $390 million in aid was officially blocked on July 25, the same day of Trump’s infamous call with Ukraine’s President Zelensky.

This looks bad for Trump. He only released the money after he got caught.
(Does anybody have access to the NYTimes article?)
I find this whole search for “proof” about Trump extorting Ukraine a taxpayer money wasting pathetic exercise. The man on the White House lawn with cameras rolling asked China a country we are in a trade war with to investigate the Bidens. that came right after saying “if they don’t do what we want, we have tremendous power.” No more proof is needed, they should have held the impeachment vote that very day.

The House Intel Committee releases its report on the impeachment inquiry:
The 300-page report from the House Intelligence Committee sets the stage for the impeachment of a US president for just the third time in history. The report stops short of outright recommending impeachment, with House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff and the other committee chairs leading the inquiry said that was a decision Congress ultimately has to make.
But the report makes clear that's where Democrats are heading.
"I'm going to reserve any kind of a public judgment on that until I have a chance to consult with my colleagues, with our leadership," Schiff, a California Democrat, said when asked if there was evidence for impeachment. "As you can tell, I am gravely concerned that if we merely accept this that we invite not only further corruption of our elections by this President, but we also invite it of the next president."
The report release kicks off what's poised to be a frenzied month in the House, with Democrats on track to potentially vote on impeaching Trump by Christmas. The House Intelligence Committee will vote to approve the report Tuesday evening, and will then send it to the Judiciary Committee, which plans to hold hearings and would draft articles of impeachment against Trump.

The Republicans will refuse to read it so they can deny it all.

I will say that this section definitely grabbed my attention (7:15):
SONDLAND: Other than my own presumption.
CONGRESSMAN: Which is nothing!
That definitely stood out to me. I'd like to see the greater context of that statement, or at least to see it explained. I still don't buy that this exonerates Trump, though.
Still, they make a good point: Whatever wrong Trump may have done, it's BS that relatives of politicians can use name recognition to get sweet deals for themselves. That is indeed a kind of "soft corruption". And I would really rather not see "Handsy Uncle Joe" be our nominee.

Here is one thing I will predict. Whoever the next Democrat president is, the Republicans will show him/her no mercy. They will go after him/her the way the democrats have gone after Trump, because that precedence has been set. They will accuse him/her of anything and everything they can think of.

Trump doesn't need to be exonerated from a conspiracy theory though. Same with Russiagate. And this whole thing has boosted Trump's ratings. You should keep up with Jimmy Dore as he and Aaron Mate have been calling it right all along.
If the Democrats are going to beat Trump the voters need to really take back the party. It's obvious Sanders's ideas, Tulsi's ideas and what Trump campaigned on resonates with voters across the country. If a corrupt shill like Biden etc is just put in place against the wishes of voters, one it will cause more disenfranchisement and two Trump will win again.

Unless enough Republicans come out of the shadows to express their disgust with Trump, and cooperate with the Dems.

If Trump is the corrupt monster I believe he is, then Republicans who actually do despise him must speak up if they want their party to survive, or all get pulled down together with Trump into the political trashcan.

Meh, I think America is overrated. I think I'd rather side with Russia, or even China.

You don’t think they already did that with Obama? In the Democrats’ view, they did. So if Republicans do it too to the next Democratic President, we won’t see it as Republicans doing it in revenge for Trump or to teach us a lesson: Our takeaway will be, Republicans gonna Republican. Because Republicans did the same to Obama.

I thought we were all meant to be worried about Trump's Nazi fans? Wouldn't they kick off if he was impeached over a hoax? It's abdurd to think the corrupted Democrats are going after Trump because of corruption.
