Minneapolis cop with knee on neck of motionless, moaning man
Got any links about this?
My guess is that in addition to POC, poor people are more likely to be profiled.
But no, I don’t consider capitalism itself to be the problem.

It's possible the medical examiner is right.
Shortness of breath can be caused by the heart not pumping as well.
My understanding is that shortness of breath is largely caused by not getting enough oxygen, that can be due to intense exertion, heart issues, interference with breathing or any combination of those.
martianprincess probably has a better idea than those of us guessing though.

Americans wake up to another day of uncertainty after a night of fire and outrage
Anger boiled over in more than 30 cities Friday, with some protesters smashing windows, setting vehicles ablaze and clashing with police.
In Minneapolis, where hours earlier the officer seen on video with his knee on Floyd's neck was arrested, some protesters knelt under a bridge and prayed. Others tossed rocks at officers who fired rubber bullets in return. At a protest in Detroit, one person was shot dead. And in Springfield, Massachusetts, hundreds gathered peacefully.
"If you can tell me something better for me to do -- if you can tell me a way that we could change the world without trying to make noise like that, then I'll get out of the streets," Max Bailey, 22, said at the protests in Denver.
In Oakland, California, one Federal Protective Service officer was killed and other injured Friday in a shooting at the downtown federal building during protests in the city, police said. Details about what led to the shooting weren't immediately available.
• Teen shot: Detroit police could not confirm whether the 19-year-old killed was part of the protests, but they said the shooting happened downtown where the rallies were taking place. A police captain was struck with a rock during the protests.
• More soldiers: The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul will have over 1,700 National Guard soldiers this weekend, officials said
• Pleas for peace: In Dallas, Mayor Eric Johnson implored people destroying property to stop. "I understand the outrage, and I feel this pain deeply," Johnson said. "What happened in Minneapolis is unacceptable. But please, remain peaceful."
• Officers injured: Two police officers were injured during protests in Los Angeles. The LAPD declared downtown protests an unlawful assembly and said anyone who disobeys the order will be arrested.
• In Houston, nearly 200 people were arrested and most will be charged with obstructing a roadway, according to the Police Department. It also said four of its officers suffered minor injuries.
Riot, looting in downtown Portland; fires set at Justice Center, other buildings
The riot continued into the early morning hours as our crews saw groups shatter windows and loot other downtown businesses.
The demonstrators converged on the Justice Center in Southwest Portland shortly before 11 p.m. Graffiti was seen painted on the building, including a profanity, and other vandalism, including broken windows.
Reportedly, the Justice Center's fire-suppression system kicked in and put out the fire, but it wasn't immediately known how much damage was done.
Police descended upon the area and began ordering people over loudspeakers to disperse or be subject to force.
Protesters then grabbed wooden items out of a dumpster on Southwest 4th Avenue and set them on fire. It turned into a large fire in the middle of the street before firefighters arrived on the scene and put it out.
Firefighters also responded to the Chase Bank downtown. It was not immediately known how much damage occurred there.
People broke the windows of the Capitol One bank downtown and could be seen entering the building with flares.
People also broke windows of several other businesses, including the Apple Store and the Pioneer Place Mall, and began looting them. Glass and debris could be seen throughout downtown.
KATU reporter observed people taking iPhones and iPads from the Apple Store.
Two men were seen throwing a scooter and a bicycle at a Portland police cruiser. Several people climbed onto its roof.
Police used tear gas throughout the night to disperse crowds.
At Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Weidler, a KATU photojournalist saw three people drive up in a vehicle and loot a Verizon store. The store’s glass had already been broken before the three arrived.
Other protesters crossed the Burnside Bridge chanting, “I can’t breathe,” which were the words that George Floyd uttered as a police officer pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck shortly before he died Monday.

No rioting or looting yet but protests, this can't be good for CV hygiene
Did the protesters appear to be wearing masks?
From what I have seen some did some did not. Social distancing is out the window people are packed together.
Somewhat related I wonder if the pandemic is indirectly making things worse. People have been sitting home bored for three months and soo many are unemployed.

Protesters and police were wearing masks from what I saw.

It's hard to imagine that's not a contributing factor. Cabin fever and stress over the future are setting in and everyone's wound up a little more tightly than usual.

Walz, who has been hammered by residents, critics and the press for his response to the crisis in his state, pushed back on the idea that the protests, which have turned increasingly violent, now have anything to do with George Floyd, an unarmed black man in Minneapolis killed by white police officer Derek Chauvin.
"The tactics and the approach that we have taken have evolved and need to evolve the same way, with a sensitivity to the legitimate rage and anger that came after what the world witnessed in the murder of George Floyd and was manifested in a very healthy gathering of community to memorialize that Tuesday night, which was still present to a certain degree on Wednesday," he said, adding, "By Thursday it was nearly gone and last night is a mockery of pretending this is about George Floyd's death or inequities or historical traumas to our communities of color."
During his Saturday morning press conference Walz also thanked first responders "who are out there protecting our cities."
"As they were taking incoming fire, improvised explosive devices and a highly evolved and tightly-controlled group of folks bent on adapting their tactics to make it as difficult as possible to maintain that order," he said.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey added that most of the violent protesters aren't residents of the city but instead people taking advantage of a situation and hellbent on fanning the flames of hate.
This is no longer about protesting," Frey said. "... This is about violence and we need to make sure that it stops."
Both leaders have implied that organized outsiders, including but not limited to anarchists, white supremacists and gangs from other states, were behind the destruction and chaos in Minneapolis.
“The sheer number of rioters has made it impossible to make coherent arrests... The capacity to be able to do offensive action was greatly diminished” by the sheer scope and seemingly organized nature of the assaults," Walz said.
“The terrifying thing is that this resembles more a military operation now as you observe ringleaders moving from place to place,” he added.
Minnesota's National Guard is comprised of more than 13,000 soldiers, according to the Guard's 2019 annual report.
Reinforcements from the active-duty forces could also be on the way soon. Military police units have been put on alert. Fox News can confirm at least one unit out of Fort Drum, New York home to the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division has been told to be ready to deploy in 4-hours if needed.
The 10th Mountain is part of the Army’s 18th Airborne Corps, which always keeps a brigade on alert ready to deploy overseas on short notice. An alert brigade from the 82nd Airborne Division was recently deployed on short notice to the Middle East in early January after the attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.
Military Police units could be used to back up law enforcement in Minnesota, but no orders have been given to deploy, officials tell Fox News.
Deploying active-duty forces in not without precedent inside the United States. In 1992, thousands of active-duty forces were dispatched to Los Angeles during the Rodney King riots under the Insurrection Act of 1807.
Police shoot at SUV that hit 2 people during lengthy, tense San Jose protest
The protests, which began midafternoon in downtown San Jose, did not dissipate until after 11 p.m. At one point, a police deputy fired at an SUV that subsequently struck protesters demonstrating at Sixth and Santa Clara streets.
The vehicle incident was captured on video around 9:05 p.m. after the car drove toward a group of protesters and then backed into the crowd, hitting at least two people before it sped away.
The vehicle was coming my way and I ran to the side,” said Saul Duarte, a protester who filmed the incident. “The whole crowd started chasing the car but it got away. After that, everyone surrounded the two injured people and tried helping but the cops started tear-gassing us.”

For those millennials who don't remember Rodney King and to those Boomers who do remember the Watts riots and Boston busing fiasco. We simply don't need this crap right now,we just don't need this crap at this time in the world.
Did the looting after hurricane Katrina solve anything,NO.

Refresh my memory, didn't the Rodney King riots stay in the Los Angeles area instead of all over like now?

"Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said he is aware of unconfirmed reports that gangs of white supremacists are taking advantage of the anarchy unfolding in Minneapolis to create more chaos".

This is an easy time for white supremacists/KKK to burn down minority cities.
Gov. Tim Walz said on tv today that American Indian landmarks are being destroyed.
It was reported that everyone arrested last night is from out of state, and they're trying to figure out who is orchestrating this.
