Well, I still have enough supply to last for at least two weeks anyway. Unfortunately some of the food products I buy every week where sold out yesterday. So I hope they have received new stock before they open this morning. And that most herd mentality people have already done their panic buying.

Well...

The good news, if you are an ordinary North Korean, is that there is very little travel between your country and the outside world. So North Korea would be one of the last places for a globe trotting virus to get to.

The bad news is that one of the few places that North Korea DOES have a lot of commercial traffic with is... China. The source of the virus. The disease SEEMS to have leap frogged the map over North Korea, and hit south Korea, and Japan, and then...every other continent on the planet. But since the Nork regime is so able to control news -we don't know what is going on there. It might be spreading there to, but they just don't allow us to know about it.

But I am sure that Kim is postponing all of those big rallies with marching troops and parading missles on flatbeds that they have there. Even the Norks will have to do without public gatherings for a while.

What do you understand to be its main purpose?

First of all, a mask immediately warns people about approaching you. It keeps other people away from you, because it sends a message: "I want you to stay at a safe distance from me." Secondly, it prevents any causal landing of droplets, even if other people are away from you. A mask prevents you from touching your own nose and mouth.. The main purpose of the mask is to prevent you from touching yourself. Virus on your face, nose, mouth, from touching your face with your hand, are the primary routes of infection. Sure, the virus can also go through your eyes. I haven't seen people in East Asia wearing face shields. Traditional eyeglasses should be sufficient. Some extremely careful people wear swimming goggles, but that's very rare.


The materials used matter little, since we are not talking about filtering power. Use whatever you feel comfortable with. In the video, I saw usage of:
(1) two layers of paper towel
(2) a layer of thick facial tissue (mouth-side lining)
(3) painter's masking tape (often available in drugstores / stationery stores / art supply stores / home improvement stores)
(4) plastic covered metal wire, I guess you could use small-gauge copper wires used for electronics
(5) two-hole puncher to make holes
(6) rubber bands
(7) hand sanitizer, or just wash your hand and table top with soapy water to disinfect, before you start work

I actually also have a mask made by my mom from about 10 years ago. It's made of fabric and is washable. I don't use it nowadays (don't know where it is now). But the point is, fabric can also be used, so that the mask can be washed (with detergent) and be reused.

I've never worn a mask but I can predict that it would make me touch my face MORE. I can just imagine how much I would fiddle with it as a stim and for comfort. I wear a blindfold to sleep and I touch it all the time arranging it and making it comfortable, or even making the straps tighter and looser. It tickles a lot too, making me touch more.

Just throwing it out there that (for this person), a mask wouldn't keep my hands off my face.

That being said I will continue to touch my face with clean hands because I'm a chronic stimmer and I seldom leave home.

The other benefits of a mask remain, but for me I think masks would increase touching.

I have great faith that Jason has that capability.
