Consider tornadoes and hurricanes. Anything can be dangerous if it is moving fast enough. The kinetic energy of a mass m and velocity v is 1/2*m*v^2

I got the impression he was referring to wind power, per se.

Current Wind Turbines generate noise pollution at frequencies that pose a serious health risk to human beings.

They are also a serious hazard to birds.

I'd rather hear a loud noise than not being able to breathe without gasping and coughing. And I've never heard of noise pollution causing slow, excruciating death.
And I'm willing to bet coal pollutants kill more birds and animals.

It's more than a simple loud noise, it is the fact it's on a frequency that can actually cause depression and other mental issues.

Clinical medical studies are beginning to suggest that sounds that are audible to the human ear may not be the sole cause for concern - even that "infrasound" or "low frequency" noise pollution may represent the major portion of potential health hazards. Such "inaudible" noise pollution is apparently not being analysed by the wind driven turbine industry.
In late 2003 and early 2004, reports of work by Dr Amanda Harry ("People demonstrated a range of symptoms from headaches, migraines, nausea, dizziness, palpitations and tinnitus to sleep disturbance, stress, anxiety and depression. These symptoms had a knock-on effect in their daily lives, causing poor concentration, irritability and an inability to cope") and Dr Bridget Osborne ("There is a public perception that wind power is 'green' and has no detrimental effect on the environment. However, these turbines make low-frequency noises that can be as damaging as high-frequency noises.") have been made public.

In fact, you're actually safer living near a coal power plant than a wind farm.

The exact same argument had been made about power lines - along with the charge that they cause cancer. My wife and I used to live in an apartment house with a electric power station directly behind us, and we're no worse for wear. So I'm skeptical about wind power having such an adverse effect on people.

There was a reason why the powerlines didn't affect you as much and it is rather simple really. You lived indoors, the apartment building was grounded, so your exposure to the electrical fields was substancially decreased. Now if you were playing outside every day by the electrical power station, then you should have seen some health problems down the road....

In the case of the noise polution, it is at a frequency that carries through windows, and the walls of homes. While you can block electrical fields with metals and good grounding, it is often harder to block sound at certain frequencies (particularly low frequency sounds).

Sorry, I just think it's all baloney. How many times has anyone had success in a court of law when suing for damages from wind or electrical power?

The facts are the facts regardless of your opinion of them. Sound can actually affect mood, it can also cause sleep deprivation. Heck in this case the frequencies we are looking at are outside the range of what a human being is capable of discerning. We actually have a very limited sense of hearing as a species, while some of us are able to consciously hear a wider range of frequencies than others; the frequencies the report is referring to are outside the range of what you can actually consciously hear.

The issue is that you still are affected by sound on those frequencies even though you can't consciously hear it.

Until someone demonstrates it as fact in a court of law that wind power is more disruptive to health than coal, I'm skeptical. It's been proven beyond the shadow of doubt that coal dust and industrial smoke causes irreparable harm to humans.

Kraichgauer, with advances in efficiencies and filtration, coal power plant emissions can be substancially reduced.

Sound believe it or not can permanently deafen someone, it can also kill believe it or not.

There are some frequencies that you can't hear but can physically feel the vibrations. Then there is the fact that the noise from the turbines is arguably comparable to a small jet engine...

This is down to the noise, and many people compare the sound output of a wind turbine to a small jet engine.

LOL IT'S A THREAD ABOUT GAYS

I totally support gay rights but I think that gay rights will never be fully achieved until every "heterosexual" who creates homoerotica comes out as bi.

That means that everyone in the UFC needs to come out as bi.

I almost forgot, like DarthMetaKnight said, this thread is about homosexuality (and Chick-fil-a), not wind vs. coal power. Perhaps we should get back to the subject.

Actually this about trying to do away with people's 1st Amendment rights through intimidation, which failed miserably I might add.
