THE Ipswich teenager seriously maimed when a homemade bomb exploded in his hands begged his mother to wake him up from the nightmare he thought he was having.

Michael Boggan's hands were almost completely destroyed when another boy handed him a golf ball packed with explosive powder.

He told Nine News that he remembered trying to open a backyard gate without the use of his hands after the bomb went off.

"My mate's dog was trying to eat me, eat my hand," he said.

"When the ambulance was arriving I said to my mum, 'Wake me up, this is only a dream', but it wasn't a dream - it was real."

Michael has been left with the pinky finger on his left hand, as well as a thumb, index and ring finger on his right hand.

"I can't type on a keyboard, I can't write. I don't know what I'm going to do.''

The family of this beautiful young man say he has a 'heart of gold'.
There is an interview with him, in typical aspie detailer style, on a website called Live Leak.
The 'mate' told Michael he'd found heroin in the golf ball and invited him to sniff it.
So the planned attack seems to have been for it to blow up in his victim's face!
It blew up instead when Michael was tossing it up and down.
This incident reminds me of a similar sadistic act performed on me designed to harm ome and make others laugh at me when I was around 21.
The perpetrator was an English male in his mid-20s, a mate of one of my girlfriend's boyfriend.
He gave me a matchbox and said to hold two matches with my fingers against each side, then to balance another one on top of them, then strike it downwards with my other hand.
You can guess what happened.
Fingers badly burnt, loud humiliating laughter, shocked and wanting to cry but meant to join in the laughter.
Aspies are sitting ducks for this type of sadistic behaviour because we desperately want to be liked and have friends, and therefore lack discernment about people.
We also have difficulty thinking on our feet and in anticipating consequences.
Perhaps we can send Michael messages of support.

GLEN Charles Dell knew he was mixing up a deadly concoction after it blew off a teenager's hands but continued stockpiling the explosives which could have blown up his house, police allege.

Just five days after the teen was maimed, Dell is accused of planting another bomb with a party popper fuse on the gate of a Bunnings construction site. It failed to properly detonate but authorities allege his intention was to cause another serious tragedy.

Police believe they have finally solved the mystery gripping Ipswich residents who have told of explosions on their doorsteps and hearing loud blasts for months.

Officers would later conclude the man they wanted was living across the road from the construction site in a small three-bedroom house, rented for about $200 a week.

The story behind the explosions began to surface when paramedics were called to a Clay St home last Thursday after a man came screaming from his house with a blood-drenched towel. His hands and groin were seriously damaged when a homemade bomb exploded.

On Sunday, in one of the most revealing finds, police discovered a golf ball at the house, with incisions. They later detonated it.

Two months earlier, a teen who said his friends had found a similar type of golf ball in Leichhardt, maimed his hands in a blast about 2.5km away.
