I've noticed that derailment is a constant issue in Trump-related thread unless it is flattering to Potus and now Flotus. There are more than usual off-topic posts so that it begins to seem that derailment bingo is employed to try and shut down debate on the actual topic. I have no objection to the pro-Trump supporters debating the issues per se, but the constant derailments are not debate, they appear more like deliberate diversion to derail, and in some cases, trolling.

Who cares..? lol let them have their fun. All they're doing is setting themselves up for the most epic disappointment when Trump leaves office abruptly in the not so distant future & it's gonna be hilarious to watch them lose their s**t over the fact that their Hater in Chief isn't going to finish his first term, let alone have a chance at a second.

These same sentiments exist in reverse of course. The epic disappoint when russiagate etc fails to provide results and so on.

Obviousy time will tell, but I'd say the statistical probability is on my side. There is no way that one of these umpteen different scandals isn't going to end his presidency prematurely.

Like what and how precisely?

Hell, maybe that's why he keeps doing all this s**t. He's hoping one of these things is his ticket out of office "against his will," so he doesn't have to quit. Apparently he was white as a ghost after learning he'd won the election, as he never expected to & didn't want to win. Sooo, maybe he his trying to get himself tossed out.

That's been one of the ongoing speculations/hopes since 2016.

Thing is, that makes Pence potus. So really the anti-trumps, democrats and liberals et al aren't going to gain much of a victory, and I imagine the other side won't be shedding many tears.

Obstruction of justice sounds like it could be a winner.. and via the legal system.

It is not certain that a president can be indicted while in office. Many constitutional scholars think that is what the impeachment process is for. Impeachment charges by the House of Repesentatives could be doable if the Democrats take control of the House of Representatives but conviction by 2/3 of the Senate and thus his removal is very unlikely. Any republican that votes to impeach or remove him will likely have a pro Trump candidate challenge and beat him or make very expensive for them in the primaries. Anti Trump Senators Corker and Flake saw the handwriting on the wall and did not even bother to run for re-election. Besides fear of getting primaried Trump is basically just signing off on what the congressional repubicans want. They are politicians, “doing the right thing” is not going to take priority over reelection and campaign contributions.

The thing with the obstruction of justice charge is intent. Now if he was trying to cover up collusion with Russia, then nefarious intent would be involved. But seems more and more like the collusion accusation is being given up on. Like you not even bringing it up, when treason was originally what was going to take down the president. So obstruction seems pretty weak without anything to obstruct, and comes off more as just a blunder. Like him or not, there's really nothing solid to charge him with.

Time will tell. I'm not an American LEO nor involved in the investigation, and thus can't determine whether there's really anything solid to charge him with. I don't think you, or any of us here, can accurately make that assessment, either.

"Impeachment" is essentially an "indictment."

After a President is impeached, he is put on trial with the whole Senate as the "judge and jury."

The same thing happened to Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. Both were acquitted---Johnson barely.

It didn't happen to Nixon; he resigned before he could be impeached.

FWIW the figure skater is def my type (we call them "twinks," but I have no idea what the origin of the word is.) & while I haven't (ever) had a boyfriend that looked like him, I've most certainly been with guys that look like him.

Much less scandalous than say.. the POTUS having had an affair with a porn star.

And now it's actually considered Presidential!

FWIW about this thread I couldn't give a s**t less who F's who or when or why - whatever, it's everyone's personal business. Cheating, sanctity of marriage, monogamy, hookup culture, celibacy, religious beliefs, personal beliefs & values.. whatever floats your boat. I just think it's rather funny that Trump thought this wasn't going to end up being public knowledge and it's interesting how it's all playing out, who cares or doesn't care or why etc. Obviously it's scandalous AF when it's the president of the USA! Pretty entertaining, too. Also funny how family values "Christians," insta-forgive their racist in chief, too.

This whole presidency is like a never ending episode Jerry Springer.

Adultery in the oval office and then committing perjury over it and then getting impeached because of that, out trumps them all. An alleged incident over a decade before a presidency doesn't even come close to being that magnitude of a scandal. And making a big stink over this after trying to put Bill Clinton back in the White House tisk tisk.
