Rex Tillerson told us all a couple years ago that he’s a “f*****g moron.” So, it shouldn’t really be any surprise, really.

My impression while watching was that he was just trying to look like he's in control and knows what he's doing so he blurted out some nonsense, nothing new here.

As ridiculous as it is, I hardly think he was actually encouraging or recommending people to do it. I don't understand why people exaggerate these incidents like this: he already looks like a fool, why try to make more out of it? :?

How have we become so unthinking, that sections of society will actually try something like this. That people need to be warned, by news stories not to injest a toxic substance even though disinfectants have warnings printed on them. The mind boggles.

It's a sad state of affairs for sure.

Agreed. I think he was trying to say a) I wish doctors could find a way to kill the virus with light energy (radiation, lasers, fever, simulated UVC waves), and b) I wish doctors could apply the principal of disinfectants to make a medicine (antibiotic or antiviral). In both cases, DUH. It's not like doctors aren't working around the clock to develop and test antivirals.

I'm just flummoxed that someone in his position with a worldwide audience could misuse language so pitifully as to sound like a buffoon.

The guy posed moronic questions to doctors live on tv and said he thinks the ideas sound promising. Obviously that’s absurdly irresponsible.

Why does this surprise you? He’s been saying stupid s**t non stop since his campaign started more than 4 years ago.

It's been several days and I still don't know how to comment on this, shaking my head. I can't believe his lackeys never spoke up, if not there, then afterwards. Kind of like the last straw - how can people still defend him? What kind of ethics does his staff have? Are they beholden to the president or to Americans? How can your job mean so much that you can stand by and allow such ongoing incompetence, especially during such a crisis? I know some are just making the best of a bad situation - better to be on the inside than not at the table at all. He does a real disservice to the many good voters out there. Lies upon lies upon bull***t at a level no one could previously imagine from a politician. I'm stunned.

It is a bit ironic that he wants a “cure” from the same people he does not trust. He has a habit of avoiding anything related to science, yet he needs scientists to fix the problem. If a “cure” is found while he is president, how fast will he take credit for something that he did not create? He will point back to his inane comments and try to say it lead to the breakthrough.

He wants to take credit for being the miracle working wizard who fixes this, but without having to take responsibility for handling it in a reasonable (and non-miraculous) manner up until then. There's times when his man-child mindset makes him especially unsuited for the job he has.

And the tabloids will echo the statement which the 46.1% who voted for him will feel vindicated and then that boosts his approval rating.

Like an episode from a Monty Python sketch.

I feel sorry for Lysol.

Now they'll have to pay their legal team to post new disclaimers etc., and protect themselves from litigation.

Consider it "cleaning" out the gene pool.

But are these the same people who would emulate the content of "Jackass" movies?

I've read the text but can't find a link for the comment.

Also, it's likely yummy to drink the Lysol with Kool-Aid.

You do realise that, somewhere in the world, there is someone who would take you up on that. 8O
You must feel so, so responsible now.

There you go again asking about bourgeois "facts" and "truth." We are not concerned with your bourgeois "truth" — we are followers of Revolutionary Truth! Orange Man Bad! Orange Man Satan!
