I did report them. I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but the person is still posting over a week later.

Likewise, the posts haven't been removed and Sly has not received an apology.

He's treated as if he deserves this type of name calling, even when he asks people to stop.

On a related note, I'm surprised that people are allowed to (not so subtly) make comments intended to infer a group of people are all associated with a certain German group from the 1930's-1940's, purely because they do not adhere to the poster(s) beliefs.

I'm sorry this happened for you. I agree it's unacceptable and it's hurtful.

I've noticed that some degrading posts of that nature are edited, with or without being addressed. Other times, degrading posts are entirely deleted, as they should be. Sadly, posts targeting certain people often remain on the board as written, and members argue the victim deserved it. The fact this constitutes public gaslighting seems to be unnoticed.

Re: The group of Germans. I find it offensive that this word is thrown around so casually, implying some of our members are complicit in the systemic kidnap, torture, imprisonment, enslavement, and murder or other human beings, based on a vote they cast four years ago. Use of this word shows gross insensitivity toward people who suffered those crimes, including my trauma therapist and the ancestors of many members on Wrong Planet. Comments and insults involving that word are personal attacks according to our rules. I'd like to see the rules enforced more consistently for the mental well-being of others: the recipients, as well as those who are triggered by hate.

We can only hope that something happens to weed out those who make these types of posts...

As Isaac Asimov wrote:

And the only "attack" available in a forum is name calling.

Once someone hits the point of name calling rather than being able to put forward evidence (or counter argument) to refute you, they have conceded their position was untenable.

Thank you for that.

Just to clarify, it wasn't the "four letter word" that you may have been thinking of, more one composing a word associated with a german realm (in same context\era), linked to a word describing part of a bird's anatomy - subtle and permitted, surprisngly, considering the forum\site rules regarding the prohibition on "behavior intended to provoke or belittle other members".

Several members of WP have noticed this pattern. I hope people continue to speak up and report personal attacks, or the gaslighting that often follows. I understand that it's hard for moderators to see every post, and I understand there may be warnings happening behind the scenes. I know it's a difficult job to balance forgiveness and consistency. I only ask that people stop belittling others or saying that it's justified. We're all adults. Surely, we can have political dialogue and disagreement without making gross generalisations, writing libellous slurs, or attacking people on a personal level.

I may be an idealist, but I don't think it should be that hard. Other fora have managed to enforce a respectful tone during these politically tumultuous times, and I hope WP can as well.

I have been doing screen dumps of posts/threads I knew would be deleted.
I'll be doing this more in future in regard to antisocial "behaviour".

I am happy with the moderation these days.

Some people simply can't contain their hatred.
It is bizarre.
I'm sorry for the mods who have to deal with the extra workloads.

I think the question is:
If they are repeat offenders,
Are they getting bans for their constant transgression?

It was said by the mods that calling someone "ignorant" about something is OK (not a personal attack).

It's like saying, "you lack knowledge in this matter".

To call someone ignorant carries multiple meanings. Most of which are quite insulting and not neutral.

To me, an ignorant person is one who holds to certain beliefs whose obvious falsity stares one in the face. What would properly be called “willful ignorance.”

Ignorant in the neutral sense is almost never used these days.

Did Obama dismiss scientific reports just to "stand up against the educated"? I can't recall.

Probably a thorough examination of the US history would reveal a lot of nasty things done by past presidents. Does it mean it's okay to repeat them now?

I assume you’ll have no problems with 100% beyond a doubt with no bias showing proof of these claims.

That said I am 100% sure thst you won’t be able to. The left often twist his words.
If he says to eat more greens the left claims he tells people to go eat grass.
If he says cancer is bad, the left will say trump Hates cancer patients

You are very easily triggered.
Did you work your middle school experiences in some therapy? I've had very bad memories from that age, too. Took me years to clean them up and leave them behind.

Yes, I also feel WP is politically slanted, even if I fit within this slant quite well.
However, the topic is not about WP rules but about US law.
I’m not the only one who’s sees the attacks on me here as horrible.
Are people attacking You, or the things you think & believe, and your political ideologies? :chin:

Perhaps you’re taking criticism of your beliefs as personal attacks and need to learn to differentiate between the two.
Well, he's been called fkkkng ignorant, a dog with fleas, a dangerous infection, and a racist killer.

People have said others should quarantine from him.

I'd take that personally myself.
These words were clearly against WP rules and I hope the posts containing them were reported and taken care of.

They weren’t. But that’s what happens when all the mods are leftist and some have said similar things to me and expressed it being ok to attack trump voters like me.
