Trump has talked about weakening NATO, and possibly not intervening if the Russians try to retake the Baltic. Sounds like a pretty good deal for Putin if Trump gets elected.

You're missing a very big point-- a lot of the new reactionaries seem to think Putin is our "friend". Don't ask for a rundown, you'll get a convoluted explanation that makes no sense and will merely waste your brain cells and time-- just realize that's the new viewpoint on Vladdie.

Yes, I know. I think they'd rather have Putin, or someone very much like him, running America. A while back, I recall how Mike Huckaby, who went on to run for President, had sang the praises of Vladimir Putin, at the expense of our legally elected President, Barack Obama.
Vladimir Putin... doesn't that sound like the name for a vampire?

Dude, Obama's full name sounds like a hybrid of 3 dictators and warlords and I'm sure you'd bash anyone for pointing it out. After all, what's in a name?

The difference is, Putin actually lives up to his bloodsucking, night stalking name.

I thought Obama's speech was good. America has a lot of problems, but it still has a lot of good. And the real America is here, right now, not a glimmer in the mind of some demagogue.

Yes, anyway, back to the RNC.

Obama's speech was fantastic. I voted for him twice and I really believed in him. I also loved Biden's speech, although I didn't agree with some of what he said. Biden should have been the one to run. He would have won in a landslide.

Chelsea Clinton was shaking, seemed like she was on something like Valium, but her speech was the best FOR Hillary. She showed her as a human being, which is something we didn't even get from Bill. And Chelsea spoke AS a human being- something we haven't been getting enough of. So that really stood out for me.

I also thought Hillary gave the best speech (for her) that I have ever seen. Delivered the best, written the best. Not the best of the week, or the best against the RNC, but the best she has ever done. So good for her.

But I was really disturbed by the treatment of the Bernie delegates. They were removed from the ROOM. That's after being silenced in ten different ways. That was so not right. Could have been dealt with in simple ways. Someone could have just said, hey, I know a lot of people are disappointed, but let's talk about what we have in common. Let's look at what you're upset about, acknowledge that, and then focus on what we can do together from now on out. What would have been wrong with that? Just SUCH a misstep in what they did. I don't know how big a deal that's going to be in the long run.

I mean, I try to be fair when I talk publicly about these things. I'm really pretty taken aback by a lot of what's going on. The media suppression of popular opinions has been really bothering me. The suppression of plain talking. Some of it makes me wonder how effective I can even be in my line of work. I get daily emails that I consider racist and sexist because they assume that all white people and all males have privilege. It's completely unacceptable to offer an opposing opinion. You get a violent response if you try to say hey, maybe you're being racist and sexist. Why is it okay to assume all white males are racist and sexist? And ablest talk as well. It's no one else's fault that they're not disabled like I am. Why SHOULD they have to think about it all the time? I just feel like there's too much hate talk going on. I'm becoming increasingly bothered by it.

Here is an interesting revelation...

Gallup just found that the 2016 RNC - as the only convention on record since 1984 - actually made people less likely to want to vote for the GOP, while the 2016 DNC gave a boost (although smaller than previous conventions) to Clinton's popularity...
