Either I don't get it, or you don't get it.

You are aware that its a joke, aren't you?

And that the E.T. character is "an alien"? And that Michael Jackson is notoriously suspected of having been a child molester (ie a "predator")? Arent you?

Ergo...that that pic of MJ and ET together shows an "alien with a predator"? That's the joke. Are you not getting that?

It ain't rocket science.

Neither the nice alien in ET, nor the scary alien in Predator, are necessesarily meant to be the same species as either each other, or as the species UFO abductees report as being "Greys". And Drew Barrymore's harmless friend in ET did not "prey" on earthlings in any sense. So I don't understand why you insist on slandering the poor little star man by calling him a "predator"? He just wanted to "phone home"!

I disagree. ET was clearly grooming little Elliot.

I was making two points.

No. ET is not ANY kind of "Grey".

That was my other point.

you're the fanatical UFO believer, and yet you cant keep your aliens straight!

ET maybe gray in color, but he is not a "Grey".

The "Greys" are a specific alien race with a specific look, and are the ones that abductees report being abducted by. Whether they are real not - the real urban legend is that they have that consistent look: proportions like a human child, big head, small body, almond shaped eyes, gray skin, etc.

ET doesnt quite have that look, and neither does Predator.

But there have been works of fiction that do have a style of alien based upon the legendary "Greys", like the aliens in "Close Encounters", and the aliens in Peter Straub's novel "Visitation" (I believe that that is the title) that have that look.

I am not aware of Peter Straub having written a book about extraterrestrials. Are you perhaps thinking of Communion by Whitley Strieber?

The concept of the Greys started with the book The Interrupted Journey (1966?). Which was about a couple who under hypnosis recounted having been taken aboard a spacecraft. One of the abductees named Betty Hill drew a picture of what the abductors looked like which was very similar to what became known as Greys.

A very interesting thing is that under hypnosis Betty Hill drew a copy of a star map she saw on the spacecraft, which appearntly included some stars which had not by that time been charted yet.

Yeah. "Communion" is probably what I am thinking of.

Folks have been seeing aliens since 1947, at least, but they look different in different parts of the world. Europeans used
see "Nordics" (aliens who look like blonde blue eyed humans from Scandanavia), in other regions they see other types, like Reptiods.

But, as you said, starting with that Sixties' couple, American abductees have been reporting "Greys". So in America that meme has caught on in popular culture: that aliens look like Greys.

Since America sets many cultural trends: American style aliens are supplanting the local type aliens world over. Everyone is starting to see Greys now.

And the aliens in the Seventies film Close Encounters were Greys, as are the aliens in the Eighties' novel Communion. The ET guy maybe loosely based upon Greys, but if a zoologists encountered creatures that looked as different as the guy on Cybderdad's avatar, and the ET guy, the zoologist would classify the two as separate species. The ET guy's head is shaped different, and is pushed forward more. And the ET guy doesn't have almond shaped slanted eyes. Not the same species.
