Hmmm... maybe I should have sex in the garden and find out if that's illegal or not :P

That's generally an interesting question: where are the boundaries of public view?
What if you were having sex in your garden behind an opaque fence? A shrubbery? A fence with everything visible? In a greenhouse? In your living room with big, street-facing windows with lights on?

Which brings up the claim that seeing something being done outside in plain view makes one a "busybody".

But what if I do that inside my house, with the curtains open and people across the street can see me? Should that be illegal? :P

I happen to have a huge window in the bathroom - should I be arrested if I use the toilet and forget to cover the window?

Joking aside, it would be interesting if someone with actual legal knowledge would chip in - can a legal activity become illegal if it's visible?

Yeah, as you can see I was thinking along the same lines.

I saw a COPS episode where a man was arrested for standing in front of his window while masturbating. Took place in an apartment complex. He had a second story apartment with a window facing the driveway.

Hmmm... I wonder if they established intent or he was doing it on a regular basis. That would get one in trouble here too.

I am experiencing hot flashes. I go out on my back porch in just a bra, to cool off when I'm getting ready. We have a privacy fence, but our neighbor behind us has a two story. Not that I'm a spring chicken, but the last thing I need is the cops called on me for indecent exposure. I'd never explain that one and I'd never go back to work.

I was about to add that apparently he was doing this while watching another tenant whenever she was in the driveway going to and from her car or wherever. So I believe it was being viewed as an exhibitionism, indecent exposure, sexual harassment type thing.

That may make the difference between this and masturbating at home to something of your own without putting your stories down.
My next question would be about loud sex in an apartament buiding. There are more senses than sight after all.

In a bra your nipples are covered. No worries.
I go to my balcony in my underwear whenever I want to.
Different country or just... shrug?

I think that would be handled as a noise complaint. Or a public nuisance complaint.

Here it would be an issue only if it's late at night or generally within the hours loud noises are not allowed. Most people would just knock on your door and ask you to be quiet instead of calling the police.

Same here. As I mentioned before you can go naked on the balcony and it's not an issue. Maybe if you were on the ground floor or something, I'm not sure.

I'd still like to know in addition to that, if name calling such as "liberal scum" is an actual threat.

And "Where do you live so I can take pictures of you?” is an actual a threat.

I think perhaps Effie Krokos is confusing harassing with threatening.

Harassment and threats often go together.

It's ridiculous that a woman can't take her shirt off on her private property, and it looks like the authorities ended up doing the right thing.

And to the false equivalence you put out, masturbating in full view of someone where you are meant to be seen and where it is directed toward that person, is very different from a woman who got a bit overheated and without really thinking about it took off her shirt. Context and intent matter here.

And yes, it's a double standard that men can go around topless, but women can't.

So what are you going to do now, Ezra? Are you going to continue to try to drive a wedge between me and the rest of the community?

It's ridiculous. America is far too prudish here. In Canada or Europe, this would not be such a big deal at all.

I remember when I was a kid and my parents took me on a trip to Montreal, as we walked the city streets, there were legit pictures of topless women hanging up in many places. They told me that here it's just not a big deal; it's America where they make a massive deal of stuff like this.
