How hard have the dispensaries been hit by looters?
I'd be real surprised if they weren't,plus easier to sell quick than a TV set or something.Methadone clinics, another goldmine 8)

By dispensaries, I meant canabis. I think methadone clinics only hand out prescriptions for the stuff to take to a pharmacy. Though you got me thinking of another goldmine idea. Raid a pharmacy for some morning after pills in a blue state and sell them online for customers in red States.
I know what you meant, pot's legal in my state.Methadone clinics give Methadone or Suboxone at the clinic by a nurse to one client at a time usually followed by a drug test, trusted clients can get take homes for weekends and holidays. They don't give any scripts to be filled elsewhere.

However your idea of looting the pharmacy is probably a better idea anyway, they have better drugs there.

You could even try the morning after pill idea when things are back to normal. You can get morning after pills all you want in new England. Market them on Craigslist to ship to Alabama.

Justice For George Floyd Rally Turns Violent In Philadelphia As Police, Protesters Clash; Multiple Police Vehicles Set On Fire

Quote:
The Justice for George Floyd rally has turned violent in Philadelphia as police and protesters have been clashing. Saturday’s protests stem from the death of Floyd, the man who died while police arrested him in Minneapolis earlier this week.

The protest began at noon outside of City Hall. Hundreds of people knelt in silence in honor of George Floyd. The move was symbolic. Floyd died after an altercation with a Minneapolis police officer who knelt on his neck.

Later in the afternoon, the crowd grew less silent. They marched down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the Art Museum. Holding signs demanding people speak up. One said, “silence doesn’t change the world.” But the mood of the protest changed after participants departed the iconic Rocky Steps.

“The demonstrators exercising their first amendment rights at City Hall and the Art Museum did so peacefully,” tweeted Philadelphia police. “We appreciate their voice and their manner of expression. However, since that time, others have convened in Center City and are committing criminal acts, including vandalism. Those acts will not be tolerated, and we strongly encourage everyone to refrain from entering Center City. We will continue provide updates throughout the evening.”

Multiple police vehicles have been set on fire, including a state police car on Broad and Vine. State police say no troopers were injured.

Also, the Friday’s restaurant building on the parkway was spraypainted and scuffle broke out between an officer a protester outside the Municipal Services Building.

Protesters also sprayed graffiti on a statue of former Philadelphia Mayor Frank Rizzo as they attempted to topple it and light it on fire. Rizzo, who served from 1972 to 1980, was praised by supporters as tough on crime but accused by critics of discriminating against minorities. His 10-foot-tall bronze statue outside the Municipal Services Building, across from City Hall, has been defaced before and is to be moved next year.

Protests spread across NYC Saturday after night of violence in Brooklyn
Quote:
Protesters were on the move across New York City on Saturday, following destructive and tense scenes in Brooklyn on Friday as thousands took to the streets to protest the death of George Floyd.

There have already been three dozen arrests in the city on Saturday after 208 arrests the night before, the NYPD said.

"We had some people try to take over the FDR Drive," NYPD Chief of Department Terry Monahan told ABC News. "Some groups took over the West Side Highway."

In what is the third night in a row of protests, the NYPD planned to be out in force Saturday to prevent "mayhem" that was seen in parts of Brooklyn

"If a protest is peaceful and not causing damage, not causing mayhem we want to encourage people to protest," Monahan said. "As soon as there's some sort of damage or mayhem we're going to take action."

n Brooklyn, it was a much different scene on Saturday, where protesters marched on Flatbush Avenue chanting, and holding up a large sign that says 'George Floyd.' As of 5 p.m. there were no police barricades up. Protesters also gathered in Prospect-Lefferts Garden, near the entrance to Prospect Park.

Protesters were also on the move in the West Village, near Hudson and Perry Streets, on the Upper East Side near the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and along the FDR Drive.

On Friday, video surfaced on social media showing a woman being violently shoved to the ground by an NYPD officer near the Barclays Center. In addition, two sisters from the Catskills were arrested for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at an NYPD van occupied by four officers during Friday night's violent protests in Brooklyn. No one was burned.

Police are still counting their injured from Friday - one officer had his teeth knocked out.

Monahan insisted the NYPD was "surgical" in its use of force Friday night despite complaints from Mayor Bill de Blasio about "elected officials at this protest some of whom were pepper sprayed."

What happened outside Barclays Center was described by Monahan as "an organized attempt to attack police" with bottles, bricks, Molotov cocktails and other debris and he blamed "a lot of outsiders," instigators who "were not people from our community".

The mayor and police commissioner are walking a fine line - defending the right of protesters and angry over the killing of George Lloyd in Minneapolis. Yet at the same time they're calling protesters determined to cause trouble and determined to hurt police.

"And that's why I say I figuratively - I stand with the protesters, but violence is not the answer. It is never the answer," Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Saturday.

LA Protest Marches Into Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive

Quote:
eaceful protest that started out in Pan Pacific Park in Los Angeles on Saturday turned violent as protestors made their way from Fairfax Village to Beverly Hills. On May 30, thousands of people demanding justice following the death of George Floyd vandalized and set fire to numerous Los Angeles Police Department vehicles near the intersection of 3rd Street and Beverly Boulevard.

Around 3 p.m. local time, the Los Angeles Police Department declared the protest taking place on Fairfax Avenue an unlawful assembly as authorities fired rubber bullets and arrested protestors breaking the line. The smoke emanating from the police vehicles set ablaze could be seen from miles away.

Fairfax Village, home to CBS Television City, where shows like The Late, Late Show with James Corden and The Price Is Right are filmed, is an affluent neighborhood adjacent to West Hollywood. Police were seen using brute force with batons to hold the line. Signs held by protestors read “Black Lives Matter” and “Disarm and Defund Killer Cops.”

As a preemptive measure, Rodeo Drive was shut down to traffic to help prevent the possibility of violence and looting taking place in the luxury shopping area located nearby in Beverly Hills. However, protestors were still able to make their way inside on foot. Videos shared on social media showed protestors chanting, “No Justice, No Peace,” “Eat the Rich,” and “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot.”

Following the outbreak of violence, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that he would be implementing a curfew on Saturday afternoon.

Protesters clash with police across metro Atlanta for a second night
Quote:
The mayor of Atlanta has issued a city-wide curfew that starts at 9 p.m. and will end at sunrise Sunday following Friday night’s unrest that sparked out of what was supposed to be a peaceful protest on the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

8:00 p.m. We’ve seen several waves of clashes with police near Centennial Olympic Park downtown. Several people have been taken into custody.

7:45 PM The Georgia National Guard has just arrived at the Georgia Governor’s Mansion, where protesters have gathered across the street. Officers have asked people to leave.

7:05 p.m.: Protesters clashed with police at the Governor’s mansion Saturday night, leading to people being taken into custody.

6:56 pm. People who step out into the street in City of Atlanta are getting arrested:

Philadelphia Is Latest Flashpoint in Protests Sweeping Nation
Quote:
At around 5 p.m., however, demonstrations turned violent as protesters and police started to clash—and videos showed some residents beginning to set cars on fire.

Footage aired on NBC Philadelphia showed police officers pepper-spraying a group of protesters climbing onto an armored truck. Videos posted on Twitter also showed police guarding a Municipal Services Building across from City Hall against protesters holding signs declaring, “He couldn't breathe” and “Justice for the people.” Outside City Hall, demonstrators broke windows and spray-painted the outside walls, before officers moved the crowd away.

Near Center City, protesters smashed the windows of several stores–including a nail salon and a Foot Locker—before entering and looting the area. Another group was seen banging the glass walls of an Apple store.

Several fires were also set throughout the city, including one in the middle of the intersection of 16th and Sansom Streets. At least one police vehicle was flipped over and the demonstrators at one point attempted to topple and light the Rizzo statue on fire, according to CBSPhilly.

Smoke billowed from a side building adjacent to City Hall and next to the statue spray-painted with the words “Kill Cops,” announcing a surreal end to a citywide quarantine that has kept most residents inside since a March 23 stay-at-home order issued by Mayor James Kenney’s office. As firefighters arrived to contain the destruction, protesters could be heard shouting, “Let it burn, let it burn.”

Despite broken glass, fires, and violent clashes, local authorities did not immediately report serious injuries Saturday. A highly placed police source, however, told The Daily Beast that there had been “multiple police injuries” as a result of Saturday's demonstrations.

National Guard in Salt Lake City
Quote:
nother car was set on fire, and a man taken into police custody Saturday evening after witnesses say he pulled out a knife and crossbow in the midst of a group of protesters in downtown Salt Lake City.

As of 6:30 p.m., the National Guard had arrived on scene. It was unclear at that point who on the scene of the protest was related to the original protest and who had come in from outside groups.

A witness told KSL's Shara Park the man drove up near a crowd of protesters at 200 East and 400 South. The witness said he got out of the vehicle with a large knife attached to his side and pulled out a crossbow loaded with an arrow and attempted to shoot someone.

KSL TV cameras were rolling as protesters tackled the man to the ground. Police officers in the area pulled the man from the crowd and took him into custody.

Shortly after a black SUV which some witnesses said belonged the man with the crossbow was flipped over by protesters and lit on fire.

The area was crowded with protesters and armored police officers attempting to keep the crowds away from the burning vehicle.

Meanwhile, Gov. Gary Herbert had activated the National Guard to respond to the protesters in downtown Salt Lake City.

Shortly after 5 p.m., Herbert tweeted that he had “activated the National Guard to help control the escalating situation in downtown Salt Lake City. I once again call on all who are protesting to do so peacefully.”

The announcement came about the same time Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall called for an 8 p.m. curfew. Salt Lake City Police Cheif Mike Brown later clarified that the curfew will last until 6 a.m. Monday.

Shortly before the curfew announcement, people began to once again target police vehicles near 200 East and 400 South, hitting one police car with a skateboard several times. This was the same area where a patrol vehicle was overturned and lit on fire earlier in the afternoon.

KSL.com reporters in the area saw two armored police vehicles arrive in the area at about 5:20 p.m., followed by 20-30 patrol cars from various agencies across the Salt Lake Valley. Police in riot gear got out and started yelling at protesters to leave.

Salt Lake City police also tweeted a request that people stay out of the downtown area "due to civil unrest."

But the protests took a turn about 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the corner of 200 East and 400 South when people overturned a police car and set it on fire.

The vehicle's windows were shattered, and before the fire was set, some members of the crowd were standing on top of the car dancing and waving signs; others in the crowd denounced such actions.

Meanwhile, a couple of armed men stood at one street corner, saying they were protecting protesters. At least one of these men was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, an outfit commonly associated with the far-right Boogaloo movement.

Protests in Rochester, New York turn chaotic

Peaceful protests in Rochester got out of control on Saturday.

Reporters with our sister station WROC say law enforcement fired tear gas into a crowed and there are people hurt by pepper spray. There are also reports that protesters are flipping cars.

I posted earlier that right wing militia are stalking rioters taking advantage of the maelstrom. The police/national guard are focusing on shirtless rioters with sticks and molotov cocktails and seem to missing the men in camouflage gear carrying loaded weapons. Charlottesville all over again.

It's good publicity for the alt-right setting fire to black housing projects to make it seem they are incapable of living in urban areas. My guess is they want future housing for poor blacks to be put further away from their precious white spaces.

'Insanity outside the White House': George Floyd protesters clash with Secret Service in Washington DC

Quote:
The Secret Service has clashed with crowds of protesters outside the White House, with reports of people being pepper sprayed and thrown to the ground amid the chaos.

Journalist Alejandro Alvarez tweeted: "Insanity outside the White House. Three warnings of an unlawful assembly from the Secret Service before storming into the crowd."

It came just hours after Donald Trump threatened people protesting the death of George Floyd with "vicious dogs" and "ominous weapons" if they had breached the fence outside the White House.

Video shows lines of uniformed officers pushing back the crowd, as bottles and liquid are thrown through the air.

Later, protesters breached the barricades of the fortified Lafayette Square and were chased by Secret Service officers.

Nearby, US Senator Kamala Harris joined peaceful protesters who were chanting 'hands up, don't shoot' - a reference to the killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

George Floyd protests swarm Manhattan, Brooklyn; dozens arrested amid violenc
Quote:
For the third night in a row, protesters are coursing through the streets of New York City Saturday night, with dozens of arrests, injuries to police officers and attacks on police vehicles, echos of the violence that convulsed Brooklyn the night before.

Protesters have variably shut down the FDR Drive, the West Side Highway, and Brooklyn-bound lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge. Mass protests are occurring in various places in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Protesters were on the move following destructive and tense scenes in Brooklyn on Friday as thousands took to the streets to protest the death of George Floyd.

There have already been 70 arrests as of shortly after 9 p.m., after 208 arrests the night before, the NYPD said.

Police vehicles have been targeted in neighborhoods including Union Square in Manhattan, and Prospect Heights and Flatbush in Brooklyn, where peaceful protests had occurred earlier in the day.

Rocks were thrown at police, and fires were set in midtown at West 45th Street and Seventh Avenue. There have been minor injuries to a number of officers.

maybe things are a bit more nuanced than that?

It may take a Ceaucescu, a Hoenecker, or in the case of the Deep South and Utah/Idaho, a Hoxha to undo Trump‘s damage.

Rant over.

The situation in Houston: Minor rioting downtown, but mostly peaceful protesting. HPD chief Art Acevedo firmly on the side of the protesters.

George Floyd was from Houston.

Protesters loot stores, cause damage at The Grove, Rodeo Drive during George Floyd unrest

Quote:
After a night of violence in down Los Angeles that led to 500 arrests, a mostly peaceful demonstration Saturday near The Grove and Rodeo Drive devolved in the afternoon when protesters set a Los Angeles Police Department kiosk and several vehicles on fire, broke store windows and covered buildings with graffiti.

Thousands of demonstrators descended on the Fairfax District and Beverly Hills as part of a series of protests over the in-custody death of George Floyd, committing multiple incidents of vandalism.

Chaotic scenes erupted across the area. Looters were seen destroying an ATM, which was eventually taken away by a group of people, as a fire burned about a block away near the Adidas store. Others were seen smashing store fronts, including at least one person who took a hammer to a store window.

The Grove

Just before 7 p.m., police responded to the Nordstrom store at The Grove in Los Angeles after it was broken into. A skirmish erupted between police and protestors in front of the store.
Police quickly moved protestors out of the area, with some officers using non-lethal weapons. AIR7 HD was over the scene as several people were seen running out of the store.

A kiosk for the Los Angeles Police Department at The Grove was set on fire. Thick plumes of smoke were seen shooting into the sky as a extinguished the flames.

The Ray Bans store was seen with shattered glass

Rodeo Drive
Sign-carrying demonstrators chanted "Eat the rich'' on Beverly Hills' famed shopping street Rodeo Drive. Signs carried by protesters included, "George Floyd did not deserve to be murdered,'' "Justice for George Floyd'' and Black lives matter.''
Many protesters ignored physical distancing recommendations.

Stores on Rodeo Drive, like other nonessential stores throughout the state, have been closed since early March due to stay-at-home orders related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The city announced around 2 p.m. Rodeo Drive was closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Mayor Eric Garcetti announced a curfew for Saturday night in Los Angeles for 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The cities of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood also enacted a curfew due to safety concerns.

The curfew requires everyone within the city of Los Angeles to stay indoors.

The Beverly Hills Police Department deployed extra staffing throughout the city and will be highly visible while enforcing the curfew, Mayor Lester Friedman said.

Vans Store, 2 Other Buildings Ablaze on Looted Downtown Block
Quote:
A building on Walnut Street near 17th caught fire before spreading to two other buildings Saturday night as police cracked down on looting and vandalism that followed peaceful protests.

The three-alarm fire began in the Vans store that had been looted earlier in the night, and the fire may have been set by looters, Philadelphia Fire officials told NBC10.

After 5 p.m. groups of people began smashing windows of stores in the area and leaving with merchandise. Other objects in the area like dumpsters were set ablaze earlier in the day.

Miami-Dade Countywide curfew is in effect from 10 PM TO 6 AM May 30, 2020 Countywide curfew goes into effect in Miami-Dade after protests, confrontations with police
Quote:
A curfew has gone into effect in Miami-Dade County in the wake of violent confrontations between protesters and police officers in Downtown Miami.

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez made the announcement as protests in Downtown Miami escalated into tense encounters outside of Miami Police headquarters.

7News cameras captured officers wearing protective gear and shields outside of Miami Police headquarters as some protesters were seen throwing objects at the building.

Officers reportedly used tear gas in an attempt to disperse demonstrators.

According to Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, a group of about 200 agitators lingered past the time that the protest was scheduled to wrap up, and that’s when the disruptions started.

Cameras also captured a vehicle after it was set on fire near police headquarters.

Demonstrators were also seen throwing rocks at a Miami Police cruiser, shattering the rear windshield.

Just before 9:10 p.m., Skyforce HD hovered above Bayside Marketplace after reports of looters at the complex. Cameras showed overturned garbage cans and trash strewn all over the ground.

Miami Police officers have since reported to the scene.

Seattle looks like a ‘war zone’ as crowds begin to disperse
Quote:
It looks like a war zone,” said KIRO Radio reporter Hanna Scott.

After four hours of peaceful demonstrations, chaos broke out in downtown Seattle. Molotov cocktails were thrown at cars, which caught on fire. Rocks were thrown at police officers. Fireworks were thrown into crowds. Businesses were broken into and looted.

Around 4:15 p.m., people began setting fires and breaking windows. KIRO Radio’s Mike Lewis reported hearing the sound of explosions downtown. Reporter Hanna Scott witnessed looting of several stores in the downtown core.

Many marchers moved onto I-5, bringing traffic to a halt. Seattle DOT says I-5 is closed from the 520 bridge to the I-190 bridge, along with several city streets. Washington State Ferries canceled its Seattle-Bremerton run in response to Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan’s imposed curfew.

Gov. Inslee activated up to 200 members of the Washington National Guard to help protect against property damage and manage crowds. Guard personnel, which was spotted downtown around 6pm, will be unarmed.

Mayor Durkan issued a 5 p.m. curfew in response to the protests for 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. An emergency alert was sent out from the city of Seattle asking all residents to disperse from downtown in accordance with the 5 p.m. curfew. Residents were asked to shelter in place. No weapons are allowed in city streets, including rocks, sticks, pipes, and clubs.

Durkan said there have been several arrests and several injuries among civilians. Seattle Police are also reporting several injuries among officers, none of which are reportedly serious.

The mayor said that two rifles were stolen from SPD patrol cars that were set on fire. SPD tweeted hours later that both weapons were recovered. Originally, SPD had believed the weapons had not been fired, but video proved otherwise. Thanks to the quick work of a Q13 FOX Seattle security guard, the rioter was quickly disarmed.

Fires and fury: Peaceful protests devolve into another night of chaos in NYC
Quote:
Saturday’s protests over the George Floyd police-involved killing in Minneapolis earlier this week descended into chaos again in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Demonstrators have set fires across locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan, vandalized police vehicles and businesses along the way. Hundreds remain out in the streets. There have been numerous clashes between individuals and cops along the way.

The May 30 protests began with relative trouble. But just like Friday, as the sun went down, the tension rose — and with it, the disorder.

Burning rubber from two police vans burning – and exploding – south of Union Square caused a rare kind of obstruction of the view of the Empire State Building Saturday night.

Protesters cheered as sparks flew up while others took a sledge hammer to the windows of the Santander Bank at the corner of the 13th Street and Broadway.

Up to 20 arrests would follow between 11th and 14th Streets before over 200 police in riot gear pushed demonstrators up Broadway, taking some to the ground with batons and plastic cuffs.

By the end of it, one man was pouring milk over his face after police used either tear gas or pepper spray. Then he vomited.

The NYPD commandeered two buses to haul away protesters arrested at the corner of East First Street and Bowery. Sources say as many as 16 were taken into custody there.

The trouble also continues on the other side of the river in Brooklyn, in areas not too far from Barclays Center, the site of Friday night’s chaotic protest.

Video surfaced on Twitter showing a police vehicle slowly driving through a crowd of people that attempted to stop it at the corner of Flatbush Avenue and St. Mark’s Avenue.

Another video shows another police vehicle in Brooklyn going through an intersection as protesters hurled garbage cans at it.

There were additional reports of bedlam near the corner of Bedford and Church Avenues, where people have been throwing bottles and bricks, and set various fires. Police have reportedly surrounded the immediate area.

In wake of the outbursts in Brooklyn and Manhattan, public officials were quick to decry it, and demand reform.

“We urge non-violence for protestors. Always,” City Council Speaker Corey Johnson tweeted. “But we demand better from the NYPD. Too many instances of escalation rather than de-escalation. Too much force. I am heartbroken for New York City right now. Our city deserves better.”

Reacting to the video of NYPD vehicles going through a crowd in Brooklyn, Queens/Bronx Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez implored de Blasio to bring the officers responsible to justice.”

“NYPD officers just drove an SUV into a crowd of human beings. They could‘ve killed them, and we don’t know how many they injured. NO ONE gets to slam an SUV through a crowd of human beings,” she tweeted. “@NYCMayor these officers need to be brought to justice, not dismissed w/’internal reviews.’”
