It's not about vaccines. Most Canadians and most truckers are fully vaccinated.

This is about vaccine mandates, and more importantly it's about Trudeau / Ford's abuse of civil liberties.

Thankyou for taking the time to post that.

As someone who has been living in Melbourne Australia, I could relate to much of what you wrote and it was very instructive as to what is happening over in Canada.
Danny and Trudy really do seem to be cookies from the same cutter.

Never seen so many Canadians proud of their own ignorance. They should shift the focus of their protest towards better public education so as to avoid creating multi-generational morons.
Same here. I never would have thought we had so many of these people in my country. Until the pandemic I thought the anti-vaxx crap was mainly an American phenomenon.

It's not as if American politics and media all stops at the border. I'm sure they influence things in Canada - especially in places like Alberta which is mostly Canada's "trump country." And then there's Quebec - French Canadians protest everything government tries to do, they have a reputation for being extremely stubborn and anti-authoritarian.

That shows you can get Covid twice even when fully vaccinated. ^

I don't know why he can't speak to the leaders of the protest via video conference like the rest of us have done with all of our meetings for the past two years. Alternatively why isn't Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland speaking on his behalf, if he's incapacitated? She also has experience as a Federal Minister of International Trade.

Why are they letting this protest continue instead of negotiating or at least holding a meeting?

The deputy PM Freeland , wrote a book called “Plutocrats: The rise of the Super Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else”
Kinda sickening that she would not address the trucker groups, When Trudeau failed his responsibility.
Makes you wonder if she had written a manual for the Super Rich .? Many many people , whom were in the know, made a awful lot of money off of the COVID thing .

Not a good look for Trudeau. Duckin and dodgin. I know little of Canada's internal politics, but I know that name has a lineage, goes back decades, generations. Like Kennedy clan. A political dynasty.

At this point I'm just relaying news the best I can. I have no idea how it will turn out overall. I heard a few bad things like (some) (whack job) protesters defacing national monuments and demanding free food from the soup kitchens, meant for homeless people. Those incidents were dealt with by police and I don't condone that in any way. I just hope things continue to be peaceful on both sides until some sort of solution is found.

I feel for everyone - the truckers, the protesters, the citizens, and the people across Canada who will be affected including truckers' families and honest people just trying to make ends meet. I can see that the government wants to do what's best by keeping people safe but again, most of the mandates aren't doing that. It's time to start looking at new ideas to move forward through this mess.
