Haven’t watched a disaster movie since that one where the US gets frozen in a day and everyone has to flee to Mexico... can’t remember the name but it was by Roland Emmerich.

I believe we can only gauge the true extent of the COVID-19 infiltration by finding out the percentage of positive test, versus all tests given, on any given day.

sly279 I do not know where you live or your personal situation but let me offer you some general advice.

As people prepare for the possibility of quarantine they have mixed in a little bit of panic buying. If the shelves are empty of food at the moment they will be filled again in the morning or the next morning or the morning after that. What we are experiencing is surge buying of food rather than a response to a true shortage. There is food to be had.

So concentrate on something different. It takes very little food to survive. I lived for eight weeks on 1/4 cup of food per meal (3 meals per day). Find this size measuring cup and look at it. It is incredibly small, just 2 ounces.

But to do this I needed two things.
1. Protein. A person needs 75-90 grams of protein each day to survive. You can get this protein from protein shakes or protein bars. Quest makes good protein bars. So if the grocery shelves are empty, go to health food stores or order these over Amazon.
2. Vitamens. If your diet is reduced you will need to supplement. So buy several bottles of multivitamins.

And then wait for the food to return to the stores in abundance.

There's lots of surplus food and other items, just waiting to be delivered.

We don't have much adverse weather to affect the distribution/delivery system via trucks and planes. The supplies will get there----though probably at a slower rate in rural areas.

Gas prices are continuing to go down.

Just get to the stores early, and DON'T HOARD!

When I went to work, the trains were about half-full, with some people standing. Probably at least a 50% decline in ridership.

The highways had a decent amount of cars----but probably half of normal volume.

There will be much more of a percentage of neighborhood people out and about than usual----in proportion to the amount of tourists.

Thousands disembarked from Miami cruise ship without being tested for coronavirus

I expected us to have some kind of a screening. They didn’t do a single thing. We walked straight off the ship. There wasn’t any check on anyone for anything.”

MSC Cruises told the Herald that no passengers were showing symptoms and that health officials had "reviewed all the necessary documentation regarding the health of passengers and crew on board...and throughout the cruise” before allowing them to leave.

The CDC has warned that not all people with coronavirus show symptoms.

Oh Nooooooo!
I just got an email from my bank. They sent me a message that reads:

[Because of the coronavirus] Beginning Monday, March 16, our bank offices will operate under a drive-thru only protocol.

Every once and awhile I take a trip to my bank. It is a small little country bank. On leaving there is always a tray of chocolate chip cookies that they hand out. And I partake.

I told my wife the news. Her response was GOOD. You need a chocolate chip cookie like a hole in the head.

I guess we must all sacrifice for the greater good.

Or the situation may evolve into a geriatric uprising, streets filled with pensioners attacking the police with razor sharp dentures and walkers. Respirators snatched from ICU's by bony hands, quarantine suits torn off doctors. Cries of " We didn't save this country from the Nazis only to be abandoned like old crappy newspapers!! !! We are the GLO!! ! (Geriatric Liberation Organisation) We demand self- determination, we were here first!!
