sly279 I do not know where you live or your personal situation but let me offer you some general advice.
As people prepare for the possibility of quarantine they have mixed in a little bit of panic buying. If the shelves are empty of food at the moment they will be filled again in the morning or the next morning or the morning after that. What we are experiencing is surge buying of food rather than a response to a true shortage. There is food to be had.
So concentrate on something different. It takes very little food to survive. I lived for eight weeks on 1/4 cup of food per meal (3 meals per day). Find this size measuring cup and look at it. It is incredibly small, just 2 ounces.
But to do this I needed two things.
1. Protein. A person needs 75-90 grams of protein each day to survive. You can get this protein from protein shakes or protein bars. Quest makes good protein bars. So if the grocery shelves are empty, go to health food stores or order these over Amazon.
2. Vitamens. If your diet is reduced you will need to supplement. So buy several bottles of multivitamins.
And then wait for the food to return to the stores in abundance.
Vitamins are already gone. So are pain pills, bandages, cold and flue meds, cough drops, water, water filters, etc. and I watched the ammo shelf at work go from full to empty with no supply in warehouse in 2 hours. People fight in stores over what’s left or when stuff comes in. People here seem to be preparing for riots and such :/
Got some hand sanitizer other day by barely betting an employee to it and pure luck being there. I’ve never seen stores shelf’s empty. There’s zero eggs. A few milk, but I supoose to drink almond milk but that’s all gone.
Only target has started ration limits on stuff. Managed to get some ammo at members only store before they fit hit, hope it doesn’t come down to needing it:/. We managed to get cheap tole it paper and had to stuff it in trunk so people wouldn’t break into the car for it while trying other stores. Got it from dollar general outside of town that’s never busy, but it was packed of people buying everything. We don’t have enough tests here so no one can be tested, there’s few bad cases in nursing homes and that’s where all our 80 tests a day go for now. Our organization say there’s probably thousands and expect 70,000 to be infected by April.
Schools are closed, churches shut down, but that’s it for now. I’m avoiding eating out. But i dont know what to do tomorrow with schools out kids will be in bus whenever, I’ve been taking bus 40 mins before I need to to avoid packed buses. My moms one of the risk to die people so if I get it she could die :/
Work says stay home if you get sick, but we are r changing policy so miss 6 days in 6 months and you’re done. People won’t stay home if their sick. Plenty of sick people at my work. Almost out of store provided sanitizer too. Oh and everyone there is conservative and thinks this is all fake made up by democrats to win the election, but they stocking up on ammo too, so I can’t wear mask or gloves or anything or I’ll be mocked and teased.
Bus company says to consider buses unsanitary as they can’t clean things people touch fast enough. City next to me deployed hand washing stations though out town. My city hasn’t spoken much at all. I need to call my insurance so I can change doctor too .everything here is falling apart and our county has zero tested cases.
