Agreed.
Gandhi was a smart man.
No-one deserves to be killed. That includes murderers, paedophiles and necrophiliacs.

So can we leave the witch hunt there, please?

No, it will only blind those who have deliberately blinded others.

Couldn't agree more.

This article saddened me, but the outpouring of hate from WP members saddened me more.

The ***holes comitting the act for which there is death penalty make their choice for that themselves! If a person kills deliberately without it being selfdefense or a pure accident, he/she comits a gruesome crime and they know excactly what they're doing. People who don't do those kinds of things deserve to walk about in peace without fear of such purpetrators coming after them. You see, it is very easy to avoid death penalty. Just don't comit the crime! Don't go ahead beating/kicking et c someone to death and it won't happen to you.

As for who gets to do the "blinding", it will obviously be the job of people who are appointed that position in the legal system, and no, putting to death murderers would not be a crime. These official executioners are obviously absolved by their position and the fact of who they off. The victim's families will never be the ones to execute the punishment legally. I would almost say unfortunately since they are the ones who knows what they have lost.

I'm a firm believer in second chances for people when it comes to many things. Everyone makes mistakes, but I cannot accept the kind of punishments handed out to these kinds of people. There were two students in London who were stabbed and tortured to death, with something like over two hundred wounds, including a knife wound to the eye. The highest minimum sentence given to one of the murderers was forty years. And this guy was a repeat offender for practically all of his adult life.

Everyone has different opinions, especially over things like the death sentence and that is something I can understand. But at the very least, something is seriously, seriously wrong when people can torture and stab people to death, victims who had quite literally never done anything to the perps, and get off with a forty year minimum sentence. It's crap, absolute crap.

You just don't get it, do you?
Will you please think rationally?
There are so many flaws in the death penalty that I can't even be bothered to type them! I can't waste my time on such clouded individuals as yourself.

Au contraire, I get it just fine. Trash is to be thrown, not kept and "understood".
There is nothing wrong with removing dangerous individuals. What is wrong is people not guilty at such crimes being subjugated to said individuals.
You're the one who is clouded. You obviously grew up on the "understanding them to death" policy of modern day Europe.
Fortunately I can think for myself and I say again If you don't wanna die, don't kill. It's very easy. Simple and fair.

i'm glad there's no death penalty or republicans here.. :?
i give up.. if you can't see the immorality of taking life, how are you any different from any murderer..? (rhetorical question, i'm no longer open-minded on the subject)
murderers deserve death but executioners are shielded from all blame.. mad world.

Don't you dare insinuate that I am easily influenced and "wishywashy".
"Trash"...how can you call life "trash"? What the hell is wrong with you?

That logic is certainly simple, but in no way fair. Urgh...I'm so angry with you that I'm losing my wording...(Help, Fudo!)

It severely depresses me that there are still people like you in this world..."simple", that's all you care about, isn't it? Just line them up and end them, that's the way it's supposed to be, right? Because that's the easy way out. That way you don't need morals or stature or emotion or logic or any sense of connection with humankind. Life is not "simple" OR "fair" so you can shove that notion up your arse to start with...

Makes me f***ing sick. So many people are opposed to the death penalty, but for crimes like this the punishment should be a life for a life.

Those bastards.

I completely agree. They should all be executed for their abhorrent crime, their lack of concern for an innocent person, and their callous and sadistic nature. Evils such as this are why I support the death penalty.

Your problem is viewing all people as equal. The fact is, that these lowlives have caused suffering, grief, and loss of life for their own enjoyment, and they committed the acts by their own will. They are not mentally ill, they are mean, nasty, and callous. There is no value to their life, and true justice calls for their execution.

The "death is the easy way out" argument doesn't really hold weight when you actually care about the life of the criminal. If you care more about reducing the weight of punishment and view death as too harsh, then you'd want a lenient prison sentence too.

What do victims say if they have the chance? "Don't kill me, don't rape me! I don't want to be killed! I'll do anything not to die!"
The murderers should feel what their victim(s) felt. Death at the hands of another. Their lives are trash, they should mean exactly that to society. Unwanted filth who shouldn't be breathing the same air as us.
