with the laws as they are, for voting districts, etc., the only thing the Republicans and Democrats can agree on is they don't want a 3rd party...;)

Socialized medicine in the United States;

The efficiency of the post office, the compassion of the IRS, and all at Pentagon prices.

And once it's set in place and doesn't work we wont be able to get rid of it.

The way I see it is that the biggest problem with the healthcare we have now is greed and greed obviously will not go away just by going to government healthcare.

What for? In the end, United States will neither have medicine for all (labelled as socialism) nor fair access of healthcare for all (which explains 'sufferings')...

I really hope that the United States can just recognize that although healthcare is not a right, it is important for the country's well-being and hence, everything should be done to treat patients in the most effective (in cost and health benefits) to as many patients as possible...

Yeah I've always wondered that too.

Yeah I've always wondered that too.

The short answer to that is, 'historical rugged individualism'?

Americans:

You didn't like the Bush Republicans with their foreign wars, domestic spying, torture, open borders and loss of freedom so you voted the Democrats in.

Now you have got more and bigger wars, more spying, more open borders and bad stuff so you think things will be better if you put the Republicans back.

They say that insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

Huh? :?: There were ~35,000 American troops involved in the invasion of Afghanistan and ~50,000 now, a small increase. The invasion and occupation of Iraq involved many times that number of troops; ~250,000 in the initial invasion and ~100,000 now, a very big decrease. Plus, the invasion of Iraq involved a much greater amount of heavy hardware than Afghanistan does; overall, American commitment is about half, now, what it was in 2003.

I agree. I had always been a GOP supporter even though I am based overseas, because I always believe in domestic spying, foreign wars and so on because I believe extreme action is needed for exceptional threats that take place across borders, beyond the control of the state... America now should be a fortress now.

However, the same cannot be said in my fellow friends, who suddenly shifts from 'Obama brings change' to 'I would have voted the Dems out if I were in MA'!

I cannot help but to laugh at those people who thought my favorite party was down and out post-Palin (and McCain)...

Huh?

Then what would you have voted for, Bush?

We only get two choices, are americans suppose to be psychic or something?

I'm not a member of any organized party, I'm a Democrat- Samuel Clemens...;)

Taking the electorate for granted, and believing in the inevitability of your own election is no way to win it.

I think the only reason Republicans don't want health care reform because they are pre-disposed to being against everything that hasn't been done before. because they wish we could live like its the 1950's again. With men in suits, women in the kitchen, and everyone dressing alike. Living in mutual fear of everything different and sharing a mutual religion. this is why it It saddens me that the GOP or the 'grumpy old people' party have enough to filibuster now. its truly a tragedy. but that's what happens when you only have two party's. things just swing back and fourth between extremes.
Not that Im saying I like democrats either. I really hate both party's.
Why cant we have a party that is in favor of health care reform but against throwing money at every problem? One that is for gay marriage and other civil rights issues but against taking my guns away? im a man without a party so i should just start my own.
the fiscally-responsible socialist-libertarian gun nut party is what i think ill call my new group. do I have any recruits to my new militant leftist ideology here?

Although we can't revert back to the 1950's; we can, however, still make our society a more fiscally-responsible one.

Sigh.
