It is more than a theory it is the sad truth.

Take me old case for example. Back in high school I was bullied in the harshest ways heck I was even burned! The bullies rarely got anything more than a slap on the wrist so I had to sue them. The one day I do something to defend myself they came down on me harder than all the people who picked on me.

its sad how many people dont know how to combat a bully its rather simple. its all these new age parents that say turn the other cheek or fight with words are usually the ones with a dead body on their hands. teach the kid to defend itself

It feels like a spear through my chest reading stories like this.

There are a lot of people who feel that suicide is a selfish act, but they are never sitting on that edge ready to jump themselves. Many people who commit suicide, or try to, actually feel they are doing the people they love a favor. I have been suicidal in the past when psychotically depressed. I honestly thought it would be better for everyone if I died and that all signs were telling me that I should die. It is really unfair to call people selfish and dismiss their loss to the family that way. Besides, this was a kid, not a reasonable adult. She should not be dead. If the weaker humans are supposed to die I would have been gone many years ago. Humans cannot be placed in the same context as the "herd".

ive been down that road too. i would be dead right now of slit wrists if work didnt call me in early thats the only thing that stopped me. and it is very selfish because the people do consider everyone else and they dont care they want it over damn the consiquences.

and humans are a herd. pack animals that consume small animals for foor or simply the joy of killing. they seperate themselves bulls with the fertial females and the weaker of the herd ar shunned........havent you been to highschool?

Yeah I was picked on my whole school career. I was bullied, and I tried to kill myself when I was 12, but the pills didn't work. Then I tried to starve myself to death with anorexia. That didn't work either. Yeah I was never popular, always the "weird" one, the one who couldn't do a single sport or even walk without falling down hardly- the "weakling". But that doesn't mean I deserve to die, just because I was weak, and I wanted to die. Kids can only take so much. The bullies may act like a herd, but the herd analogy of killing the stragglers cannot be applied here, is all I am saying.

Yeah, I agree. Look at the scandals with Enron, and with Bernie Madoff. Some of the victims of Madoff bleated, "I thought he was our friend!"As if that would guarantee the absence of wrong doing.

It's like, "Whoops! I can't punish this kid! Her best friend is the daughter of the guy I'm looking to buy a car from! If I punish her, her friend's father might get mad and not sell me that car! Oh no! The star quarterback's father donated money to the school! I'll look so bad if I suspend him for bullying a smaller student!"
They're trapped in their own social connections.

How true. When you kiss ass too much, you eventually end up with s**t on your lips.

I've recently have read about this and I can recall of the tyrants that tormented me though, I did not go as far as suicide to deal mith my torment but, I can sincerely understand how many of a person can find themselves in very unpleasant circumstances not knowing what to do..Honestly, I'm glad that most of the tyrants are no longer part of my life but, still it's not something I forget easily though..

Bullying in grade school, has scarred me for life. My daughter, who is also AS, suffered bullying in middle school, too. At the end of the school year, she was invited to a party, and unwisely accepted. The "popular" kids assaulted her, and a boy friend that she had brought along. I called the police and reported them. The father of the boy who had been assaulted, called the FBI. The little bastards were arrested! I might have done them a favor, at that. They needed to learn that their behavior was not acceptable, and was punishable by law.

Despite the protests and law suits, it wouldn't surprised me at all if the bullies and the school officials get off scott free. In cases like this, the bullies (and their parents) and school administrators are notorious for weaseling their way out of taking responsibility in bullying suicides.

It's sadly a case of survival of the fittest. As a girl I found that you're better off staying as far away from associating yourself with popular students as much as possible. Even one slight connection could be seen as a means of attacking you.

That girl made a mistake by agreeing to date the football player. I've watched enough movies to know that if a popular jock had asked a tormented and unpopular girl like me out in high school, I would immediatly have warning bells go off in my head. Then again, the media keeps giving people this false idea that jocks would be into unpopular girls with all of these "Cinderella-story" type high school flicks that come out. I mean, come on! That's so far off the realism grid.

What to do if you suspect your child has NT

First, dont panic!

Nowadays due to diagnostic advances, early intervention and carefully tailored behavioural management techniques, there is no reason why your child can not grow into an independent social being, develop a TOOM (Theory of Other Minds), and in time, even develop some special interests and abilities to contribute to society.

While Medical Science currently holds out little hope for any great improvements in perceptual abilities such as hearing acuity, touch sensitivity, etc, it is still possible for NT children to enjoy the limited senses that they do have.

Rote drills such as Applied Behaviour Analysis with their easily understood regimen of repetitiveness and punishment will do wonders with common NT behaviours such as lying, teasing and faddishness.

AS scientists are currently working on a new range of wonder-drugs - Swarming Inhibitors (SI's) which it is hoped will prevent some of the more anti-social manifestations of NT such as a tendency to congregate in mobs, engage in vicious group character assassinations of outsiders, and in the extreme case to actually incite each other to mass acts of violence and destruction such as wars, pogroms, lynch mobs and the like.

It's more than lawsuits- there's been criminal charges brought against these kids. Whether or not they get off, they're still living a hellish life right now. These kids are now being harassed by the angry mob. Us "massholes" can be pretty unforgiving sometimes.
Their facebook and myspace pages are gone, they're unable to return to school, one of the boys involved has had his football career completely ruined, and you can bet the teachers who watched all the bullying happen aren't getting much respect from the students.
I've done community theater(pit band) in that town, played in the school's auditorium, and snacked in their library during intermission. I believe I won't be able to stomach any food in there now.
According to an acquaintance of mine who lives nearby, these kids were terrified to go back to school after word spread that they were the ones responsible. Now, they can't, due to criminal charges.
Their lives are ruined, whether or not they get convicted.

^That news just made my day. It is so good to hear that people are really getting fed up with this crap.

Tuesday is when three of the bullies will be arraigned. I don't know if this will be open to the public. If so, I will be there.
