It's times like this that I am happy I live in a country where the death penalty has been abolished. I can't believe some of the reasons given for killing people, often women, in this barbaric way. Strange how a region that was more developed than most in the olden days has become so backwards. It makes me sad...

And yes, some weird things are being said...

Indeed, the last person to be excuted in the United Kingdom was a vulnerble man with learning disabilities were he was eventually found to be innocent of the crime he committed and suspicions of the police using such a person to secure a conviction.

That to me is such a strong argument that such powers should never be given to our judicial system ever again.

I find it strange a country which has origins back to some of the earliest civilizations of man, such as Babylon, still practices the same kind of brutality several thousand years later as if somehow a clock on progress came to a halt then was forced to turn backward. Strange to think Iran was once a thriving island of democracy in the region at the beginning of the 20th century with its constitutional revolution.
