Autistic recieves probation for mutilating toddler
He obviously knew enough not to use an actual knife. Nowhere does it say "malice". It does say "culpable and reckless".
I can create a scenario where I could go postal. I saw it on TV, my intent wouldn't be malicious. Does that make ot ok?
The fact is, this guy should have been ordered mandatory mental health along with his probation. What does "probation" mean to a guy who supposedly doesn't understand how to choose between, A) admitting your mistake vs B) amateur surgery on a toddlers genitals? No pain meds, you know that baby was screaming and crying, but then he "sawed" frantically.
AS or not, there is a sense of right and wrong in us. He knew he didn't want to be in trouble. This fact was more important to him than the baby's pain.
You know, there are a lot of people in prison right now who have voices telling them what to do. Are they really responsible for the people they murdered? They were only doing what they were repeatedly told to do. The answer is yes. We want these people off the street so they won't hurt innocent people.
