The ones who are in politics are corrupt. The ones who speak politics but aren't politicians have no voice. So what is the solution?

The news is often full of BS. I tend to avoid tv media sources and choose to read articles instead.

If I do watch news video it will usually be from sources like Russia Today and Al Jazeera.

Even with half decent news sources available most people seem switched off to what is happening in the world.

Out of 154 friends I have on Facebook, only one has posted anything about it in the past 48 hours.

Everyone is still talking about how drunk they got last night, who won the game on TV, or who broke up with who. No one seems to care that hundreds of people are being slaughtered in Libya every day, or that the Arab world is in an uprising that has the potential to cause the world economy to completely collapse, when it's all over the news.

The very most I hear is, "I can't do anything about it anyway."

There's no one to talk politics to and it just sucks.

Facebook may be a good place to organize a political uprising, but it doesn't sem like a very good place to have discussions about one. Facebook isn't a good place for discussions, period. I like talking about politics and many of my friends do too, and when we are actually with each other we talk very heatedly about recent events. But on Facebook, these very same people (including me) can't muster more than a link to CNN or a "support the Egyptian people" wall post, which then gets a bunch of "like" thumbs. The medium just doesn't lend itself to actual discussion.

I watch the news whenever it's on, but I am not interested at all about the middle east and their problems. I know roughly what's going on but I'm not planning on discussing it at length any time soon. Whether you discuss current politics or not doesn't determine your intellectual level, it's just some people aren't interested in it. I certainly don't care.

I would never ever take Russia Today or Al Jazeera at there word. Just use them for guidance. I still might watch some Fox, CNN or BBC to see how much BS I can sniff out too.

I prefer reading news articles;

Guardian, HuffingtonPost, Alternet and Grist is probably what I visit the most.

Try these:

http://english.aljazeera.net/watch_now/

http://feb17.info/

The last website is the the official Libyan Resistance page, the news is raw, but totally real.

There is so little news on news shows that I go to the internet and check out a large variety of news sources.

A good place to start is www.whatreallyhappened.com

I must confess that I also listen to Alex Jones over the internet.

I wasn't aware that news was still aring. I thought it was all pundits and people rambling on about things they know nothing about.

Okay Guardian is okay at times, however you actually take Huffington Post's word and say I'm brainwashed. As for the last two never heard of them.

You should visit Alternet sometime. I would love to see your reaction to it.

Uh are they halfway decent or are they so far left they need to be sent back to the funny farm.

They are quite far left. For the record, I would regard HuffPo as roughly equivalent to Fox in terms of partisanship/bias (or perhaps HuffPo is a bit more biased, but just seems less sleazy about it), and Alternet is significantly to the left of HuffPo.

Huffington Post was involved in Journ'O'list, not Fox News so I would say Fox News has demonstrated that it is nowhere near as sleazy as Huffington Post and Politico.

Who let the patients out of the funny farm so they could start a far left site anyways?!?!

Sry if anyone has taken offense, it is just that some far left stuff I've seen seems to be totally oblivious to reality.

I was going to make a snide remark here, but instead I think I will let that snippet speak for itself.
