This is why I refuse to read articles that are based on opinion & debate. I only read reports that are based on facts and events; things that are not as easy to B.S. people. I go to MSNBC, Fox News, CNN, Yahoo, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, an LGBT paper, and Scientific American. It does not matter if they are liberal or conservative.

I don't care if they agree or disagree with my views. If they sacrifice the quality and accuracy of their reporting in the sake of fulfilling their agenda, I am automatically disgusted.

Extremism relies on inaccuracy and people not noticing. No wonder our country is so ill informed, polarized, and stagnant. If we rely on facts & numbers to make decisions like our budget and everyone intentionally lies about the numbers, people need to expect us to have budget problems.

The reason we have sucky/corrupted politicians that refuse to work together is that we value these type of people & vote them in. Our media reflects our values.

Why do you need a licence to watch TV?
Are they afraid to you will watch TV recklessly?

If all biased, one-sided news stations are a disgrace, then the best news source is the Onion.

Use the on-off switch or the station changing knob.

A little bias is inevitable, and stations like RT that are outrageously biased in some areas perform a great service in exposing the bias of mainstream american media in other areas- so the same outlet can be both a scourge and a blessing.

The solution is to partake of the whole buffet: surf around and sample both your own country's rival networks and those foriegn outlets that you can get so you can get the various pov's.

I think (not sure) it's because the BBC is entirely funded by the license fee, hence we don't get ten hours of poinltess adverts in between each programme. There is a loophole in the law however that means you can live without a license fee and watch programmes online, as long as you don't watch them at the time they are originally aired! Also the license fee is cheaper if you only have a black and white TV... Obviously these are becoming extremely rare now though! (I used to have one!)

Here's a more in-depth article from Wikipedia:

As for bias, that's old news (if you'll pardon the pun!). Of course news stations/papers are going to write biased articles. It's been happening for years. Not saying it's right of course.
