You know there are deep ecologists that believe that humans are a disease on earth and they are waiting for their "mesiah" of sorts that will kill all of humanity. Sweet thought, huh?

I do think that modern society is a disease on earth. I think we are steadily walking towards our destruction (I am not that sure if the destruction of the planet, too. I think not even HUMANS can destroy nature -not that we are not trying.) But I am waiting for no "messiah". And I do not think that destroying the human race is the solution. Fight destruction with destruction? What ever happened to love, understanding and education? I hope we are raising a more conscious new generation of people that will take better care of our planet (I know I am, at least).

Apparently if we do come close to polluting the world to global extinction we won't be the first species on the planet to have ever overpopulated to that point. At the same time though I'm getting the sense that with green tech being the wave of the future we'll be getting better and better at consuming and simultanteously not being nearly as toxic or wasteful in that endeavor. Declining population projected to begin between 2050 and the end of the century is also promising to that end.

Do people even take PETA seriously? they are a bunch of freaking hypocrites........I mean from what I've heard they kill many of the animals they supposedly 'rescue'. Now I am totally against animal abuse and such, but PETA can go f*ck itself as far as I am concerned.

Completely agreed. And they do kill most of the animals they rescue.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

that is freakish...I have to tell my brother's peta pita that.

I dont understand the difference between killing a pet they "rescued" and killing livestock for food. I guess the meat is wasted on the ones they kill, not that I advocate eating dogs and cats.
Anyway I hear Temple Grandin gets a hard time for finding humane ways to kill livestock, but their humane killing of pets is okay??
becides Temple has more dignity in her little finger than all of them combined.

I had NEVER heard that PETA killed animals at all! Forgive my naïveté, please give me information on this. I'm serious. And upset/disillusioned. Thank you in advance...Sylkat  8O

I'm not clear on why they are tax exempt exactly? What is their exempt status? Surely they're not claiming Veganism as a religion?

They have never really done more than promote themselves as celebrities and nude models. It would seem that if they are tax exempt that the Minute Men, and every other radical splinter group of any organization in the country should be exempt as well.

And creating awareness of what? There is not a person on the planet that is not aware of the fact that animals are killed for food. That many are raised in inhumane conditions to become that food. That cruelty is bad. It's like marching to create awareness for breast cancer. Who is not aware that it is an issue?

I'll be truly interested to see if their .xxx site is funded with tax exempt money as well.

As to the killing of animals, PITA claims that it kills no animals taken into their shelters, but what they do do is take the ones that are difficult to adopt to the local county animal shelter, where they must be destroyed. That allows them to claim no kill, while all the while actually killing. I really dislike hypocrites.

Thanks for letting me participate all.

Dwayne
