Uh. No. No lithium for me thank you.

What the hell is he smoking? Mass medicating people is about as stupid as it gets. It's bad enough that our water is already full of chemicals that are often not properly monitored to begin with. There are days here when running the tap makes the whole house smell like a public pool. If they can't even get that right, why should they be trusted putting lithium in there too? No effing way.

lithium causes hypothyroidism which causes alot of health problems, some of which can lead to premature death.

Lithium is used as an antimanic drug....I guess his solutions to the riots...just drug them into stupor.
Has anyone thought of making life easier??

Psychiatry is probably the world's most evil profession. Nobody who's sane will take this guy seriously.

Umm a variety of things can happen with these compounds. Does it affect your health if you boil water for cooking with these chemicals? Or when baking or broiling food? Or rub it into your skin and scalp in the shower?

Or water you pets with it? Will your Dog or Cat just blank out?

Or what if you are already on another medication and now Lithium is unexpectedly introduced with it? Could it combine with your prescription for unintended effects?

People on prescribed lithium should be monitored as it can build up in the body. My aunt almost died a few years ago from taking the dosage she was prescribed. She was in a coma for 6 weeks. I assume he's talking about misiscule amounts (or maybe not), but he must be insane if he thinks this is a safe thing to do.

I don't agree with adding fluoride to water to prevent tooth decy either. My friend grew up in Dublin, where fluoride was added to water for many years and he has fluorosis (very badly stained teeth), due to consuming too much.

Lithium can have adverse psychiatric effects as well as both long and short term physical effects as well. If it naturally occurs in a local water supply that can't be helped, but sticking it in the water with no oversight is absurd. Standard medical practice is supposed to try to make lifestyle changes before medicating. Lithium usually doesn't do much for the kind of chemical imbalance depression resulting from circumstances causes anyway.

The use of the public water supply to deliver unwanted or unasked for drugs is involuntary treatment. It is a violation of civil rights. The only excuse for adding stuff is to prevent highly morbid and fatal communicable disease. Psychological or psychiatric adjustment does NOT fit in with this.

I object, on these grounds to the addition for flouride compounds to the water supply. Tooth decay is not morbid nor is it communicable. In addition to which, those who wish to use flouride can have it added to their toothpaste.
