Lets not blame the mother...it is not her fault that guy was a total d*ck. I agree though she needs to let him disclose when he is old enough to be aware of the consquences, but the fault of this incident does not rest solely with her.

I agree with Kraich about drop-kicking santa. I dont think I would be able to control my impulses...even if I was the one with a jail cell for Christmas.

I didn't say it did. Just pointing out that by wearing that shirt, he became a easier target. It doesn't deduct the fact the idiot discriminated by knowing said information and if the mother would have told this guy about her son's condition, I'm sure the outcome would have been the same.

Sorry if it sounded that way. All I was acknowledging was the fact that people will discriminate when they know such information readily (such as a shirt proclaiming you've got Autism), but it still doesn't excuse that Santa's conduct because he shouldn't have held such prejudice over it to begin with. It's not right, but if you want to avert such negative encounters happening, it's best to only mention you're Autistic when it's required either by law, necessity or if you're willing to tolerate that possible issue.

But I guess then argument evolves on whenever or not he needs to be wearing that shirt as he may be LFA and knowing such information immediately might be helpful for authorities to track him down and assist him, should he run away.

Then if that's the case, I retract my stance upon thinking about that. I was originally thinking more on the lines that his condition was being paraded, and failed to consider the possible necessity factor and benefits of informing people via a shirt. It reminds me of those medical bracelets I once wore with "Autistic" etched on it and I suppose that was unavoidable and painted me as a easier target for bigots too. :?

I've always told my kids Santa isn't real. Nothing like this ever happened to them, but if it had, and they had understood it, they would have at least known it was just some jerk in a costume.
