I remember in Missouri, a dead man won the seat for US House a couple of years back and his wife was allowed to serve his place. Election laws are really state level rules so one cannot say.
That was for the Senate seat in 2000 and the governor appointed the widow to serve his place. But she only served for 2 years as that was the protocol for a governor's appointment until the next 2-year election cycle.

That kind of reminds me of something. A long time ago when I was little, George Wallace, the governor then, couldn't run again the next term but he wanted to, so he got his wife to run and she won and was the governor, but he was the actual governor and everybody knew it.

So? There's a town in Alaska that votes a cat as its mayor. People in small towns voice displeasure in many different ways. They'd do it in larger cities, too, but they're much to complex to function without a real human being for long. Unless that city is Mogadishu.

Dick Cheney has been dead for years but people are afraid to tell him.
And Strom Thurmond was obviously a zombie.
It's nothing new for Republicans to be dead and hold office,at least brain dead.

Boston Curtis,a mule was voted a precinct seat in Milton,Wash in 1938.Republican,of course.
Clay Henry the third ,a beer drinking goat was the symbolic mayor of Lajitas,Tx.

I bet they did a fine job.

Well...maybe the living guy running opposite the dead guy was so bad that the voters preferred the dead guy- ie they knew he was dead but it was a gesture saying "we like what he stood for so we will take his running mate if he had one"- or we so much hate the other living guy that even the dead guy is better (or a combo of both statements).

It doesnt necessarily mean that they were so dumb they didnt know he was dead.

Besides: in Chicago the dead have been voting for decades! So why shouldnt they run as well!?

Brains! Brains! Brains!
