Quote from the first article:
Quote:
Two Israeli soldiers who used a nine-year-old Palestinian boy as a human shield were given suspended sentences and demoted after being convicted of "inappropriate conduct".
Hmm interesting, so there was a trial eh?
Quote from the second article:
Quote:
Shapira was arrested over the summer for encouraging Jews to kill Gentiles in his book "The King's Torah."
Gee, so I guess what this Rabbi wasn't deemed acceptable by Israeli's after all.
Meanwhile, I have yet to hear anything about Hamas doing investigations at all into why their rockets get launched into Israeli civilian areas.
VMSmith wrote:
and yeah, much as i dislike hamas and it's tactics, it is self defence seeing as palestinians have to contend with an occupying country and israel does not because it is the occupier.
If you defend their tactic of using civilians as human shields then you give up the right to complain if those civilians get killed.

israel's been launching rockets at palestine for a long, long time. a lot of things israel does is against the geneva convention.
In this particular case, Hamas launched rockets into Israel first.

They say that even when the Israelis don't assassinate their leaders.
In a war, one choose the tactic that appears to be effective.
Here is an historical note. In 1943 the U.S. assassinate Isoruku Yamamoto, the leading Japanese General. The weapon of choice was 14 P-38 fighter planes which shot down Admiral Yamamoto's plane killing him and everyone aboard.
Let us not be too selective about criticizing assassination as a tactic of war. Americans do it and Israelis do it. That is war.

Wait, do you mean the israeli's, or the palestinians? Because the Palestinians are specifically targetting Israeli citizens - lobbing rockets indiscriminently at Israeli towns (i.e. civilian areas), whereas the Israeli's are actually targetting Hamas legitimate military targets (i.e. weapons caches) - which Hamas, caring so much about their own civilians, places in civilian areas, a violation of international law. So yes, I'm sure every time a Palestinian civilian is killed by Israel when Israel strikes a military target located in a civilian area, Hamas is just shocked - SHOCKED! - , outraged and surprised that civilians were killed. Its reprehensible to practically be taping "shoot me, please" signs on your own civilians and then complaining when they get killed. Hamas cares not a bit for any civilians, anywhere. But yeah, lets continue to paint the Israeli's as the bad guys because, well, because what?

There is NO EXCUSE for this.

I was talking about the missile strike that destroyed the military leader's car, not the ones fired at buildings. I agree that firing missiles into populated areas (both sides in this conflict like to do this) is generally a bad idea, however targeted assassinations of military leaders is, in my opinion, a good idea. Maybe they would not have to use an entire missile to kill just one person if they weren't paranoid about taking casualties.

These miserablist Salafist hatemongers say crap like that every three seconds anyway. We know they hate Israel, we know they hate the West, we know they hate women, gays and Jews. We know all these things. Israel is taking no notice and I exceedingly hope that Israel has done them harm. Pat on the back for the IDF.

Spot on. 100%. The best favour that the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria and Gaza can do for themselves is to call off their bombing, their rocket-firing and their terrorism. Good times, prosperity and a state of their own awaits them.
But no. They just want to destroy Israel and kill Jews. Most of them have little else left in their lives to occupy them (except for maybe beating up their women) apart from Islam and jihad.
It is the war between the civilised me who care for life and property (which - very unfortunately - means that innocent people will be killed in the process of their defence) and indiscriminate murderous terrorist death cultists. I know whose side I'm on.

I was merely quoting something said on the news that stuck with me. Even some of us in Britain believe some high profile scientists have been assassinated in line of homeland security.

hamas' actions are a reaction to decades of occupation and opression whereas israels actions are that of the oppressor... there is a difference between the violence of the oppressed and the oppressor. i do not like hamas, i understand and defend their actions because it is resistance. no, i do not think they care about civilians. the way to liberate palestine and smash the zionist state is through workers struggles not hamas' tactics but i am still taking hamas' side over israels. it wasn't hamas who painted shoot me signs on civilians, nobody asked israel to go killing kids, it would have done it anyway because it is a racist, colonial settler state and it has to expand it's territory and keep itself jewish majority so it can claim it is a "jewish" state. and that is why israel is the bad guy.
Mmm.
One day they are going to have to compromise. The rest of the world doesn't care too much any more, and neither side can live in peace.
Both sides are guilty, and Netanyahuh makes me laugh with his talk of the terrorists, the Jewish state was founded through Terrorism.
I predict pragmatism wins out eventually, might take another 50 years though.

I agree. Hamas does indeed have as its main tactic propaganda and manipulation, as well as deception (but that's not unusual for an Islamist group - has anyone heard of Taqqiyah?). Also, I don't believe that anyone can really comment on Hamas if they haven't read their charter...it's the charter of a terrorist organization that glorifies genocide - it's right there, in their own words.
Oh, and for the uneducated comments above - the Jewish state was not founded on terrorism - the land that they now occupy was bought from the Arabs who owned it - and they still have the receipts. Those Arabs were offered citizenship and instead chose to move to Jordan. Why? Because Jews are abominable to Muslims. It's racial and religious discrimination, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't actually know the meaning of that word.
By the way, does anyone here know where the founder of Hamas came from? Well, I'll answer my own question - he came from the Muslim Brotherhood.
If that doesn't ring a bell, well, they were "elected" to the new Egyptian government. They fund Hamas, Fatah, and other terrorist organizations. They themselves are a terrorist organization. Has anyone ever read their charter?
Bet you won't find that on the dumbed-down news.
Doing your own research is crucial if you want to know the truth.
Apologies. Ignorance really ticks me off.

Exactly. It utilises hadiths that call for the killing of Jews, and approvingly cites The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

So then you condone the killing of civilians, so long as its only the "rebellion" intentionally killing the civilians of the "evil empire"?
Lets not forget, the Palestinians have had the opportunity to make peace with Israel, especially at the Clinton meetings with Barak and Arafat at Camp David, but they chose not to. Read that again - THEY CHOSE NOT TO - and instead elected to continue to living under the occupation. Since then, they've spent a large portion of the time (and all of the last several years) refusing to negotiate with Israel, instead preferring the status quo under which they are "occupied", then using this "occupation" as an excuse to intentionally try to kill Israeli civilians at every opportunity A stupid, losing strategy if ever there was one. Lets also not forget that the lands that Israel occupies were never part of an independent country called Palestine. They were part of the Ottoman Empire, then controlled by the British in a UN mandate, then part of Egypt and Jordan until Israel took them over as conquered territory as a result of wars that they did not start, but which they won. Through that entire history, the "occupiers" of Palestinian land were never considered evil until the occupiers happened to be Israel. The Israelis attempted to disengage from Gaza, removing all of their people and their military. Short of simply declaring Gaza an independent state, what else can the Israeli's do to live at peace with a people that refuse to negotiate peace with them? No, that wasn't enough to get the Palestinians back to the negotiating table. Instead, they have continually sought to escalate the situation by lobbing rockets from Gaza at Israeli towns.
