She is my best friend and my reason for getting up in the morning.
I think this is one of the reasons the threads on 'I'm NEVER going to find someone, I'm just gonna give up now.. mopemopemope' piss me off so much. You CAN find The One. They ARE out there somewhere.

I appreciate you're trying to convey a positive message here, but I don't know why the moping of your fellow aspies should piss you off so much.

But I suppose there is a fine line between being positive and downplaying other people's difficulties. I admit I don't have much advice to give to lonely, moping aspies myself.

By the way, why is this in the News forum?

I have been married 15 years but it took a long time to find the right person I think I'd still be single if I had not met her.

I was married briefly, but he was verbally abusive, and if I didn't get out when I did, the abuse certainly would have been physical. Now, I have a boyfriend who treats me far better than the ex ever did, and I've been with him longer than my marriage.

Not planning on getting married. Spending the rest of my life with someone doesn't really appeal to me, but that could be because I'm extremely introverted.

I'm not with anyone at all; I've had two boyfriends but I'm only in high school so they weren't anything serious. I'm probably going to start serious dating after college so that I won't have to feel obligated to spend time with that person instead of doing my school work. I think it would be a waste to spend $100,000 or so for 4 years (plus costs for graduate school for what I plan to be) just to end up with a boyfriend that's taking up all or most of my time besides, and then my work wouldn't be nearly as good as I'd be capable of. I don't want to fail at college lol.

I will never get married. I will only enter in a partnership with a woman not a marriage. If people two people truly love each other, you do not need a marriage to seal the deal. Anyways, you need to morgage your homes these days to have wedding. You have to deal with the caterers, the DJ,renting the hall, buying the booze, the cost of the limosuine, the invitations, the wedding dress, the tuxedo, the wedding cake ,the honeymoon and all of the other garbage that comes along. Then at the reception you have to contend with incompetent caterersa bad photographer with drunk relatives who are ruining your moment. What happends if you suddenly divorce? Your stuck with a $15,000 bill for a marriage that fell apart after a year and a legal case that can drag on for years that ends up costing more than the reception. The question people that should ask themselves that are they willing to put themselves through hell and willing to deal the pitfalls of marriage.

Lastly, sign a pre-nup agreement before you marry your going to the cleaners if you do not have an iron clad pre-nup.

Our wedding cost $65. Dinner for 10 was probably $300 but a happy uncle picked up the tab.
I think the wedding cake was from a store bakery.
I'm 36 and have been married almost 10 years. My husband is close to my age and I'm wife #3. He started at 21 (married his high school sweetheart) and quickly married again and again. But I'm the last (he says).
I dated a lot in my younger years but I can get obsessed on people and romance. I don't have to like the person. I'm lucky that I met my husband when I did. Sometimes there are other factors in loneliness-not just this "I can't meet anyone because of AS".
I have a very extreme NT friend who is very depressed because she is 38 and single. She is terrible with men and not really nice-but never takes responsibility for her actions. She obsesses over guys and then sabatoges whatever chance they have. And she doesn't learn not to do it. Like she doesn't want to be happy.

I'm curious too, what the difference is between single NTs and single Aspies/autistics.

Married a neat, organized, predictable, efficient professional woman (perfect mate for an Aspie). 3 years later, she got herself off her migraine medications (including Beta-Blockers) and she completely changed her personality. Became a disorganized, messy cafe owner. I couldn't deal with the abstractness and seat-of-the-pants nature of the new personality and we parted ways. I swear I almost threw myself off a bridge trying to deal with life with her after the change. A real downer because I was SO happy with her organized and predictable nature before. Warning to Aspies: make sure your prospective mate isn't on any personality-altering medications. (I didn't know Beta-Blockers were until it was too late).

Because it's big news any time an Aspie gets married. Or even gets a date for that matter.

I've been engaged three times. Does that count for anything? Everyone I've ever dated, except for one, has been crazy, abusive or alcoholic. I finally figured out I attract the wrong sort so I quit worrying about dating. It's cheaper not to go on dates anyway. I'd rather stay home. My 13 yr old cat is better company than anyone I've ever dated.

Have never been in a relationship and on the fast track to nothing in this domain. Doesn't bother me though and being only 17, things could change I guess.

I'm a male 18 or under and never had a partner. Although I have had thoughts about getting a girlfriend before, but haven't acted upon it. My schoolwork was more important to me at the time. I guess I will see what 2007 has to bring.

I'm not married at this moment. I never was, to tell you the truth. I might be in the future, or I might not. Things will unfold the way that they will. Until than, I'll enjoy my freedom.

Peace

No man, no plan!

Have made a life decision that I will never marry - I have enough problems in my life without creating more!!

I've been without a boyfriend for about four years now, and I'm far happier these days!
