Thats what Subway calls the employees who respond to your dictates (lettuce, tomatoes, mayo..) to assemble those subs to your liking:

"Sandwich artists".

Dont really have a problem with it... though it did kinda make me chuckle too when I first heard the term.

Well...the Dutch eat burgers with mayonaise (Yuk!)according to that hitman in Pulp Fiction. Atleast ketchup on a phillycheese isnt that bad.

But if you're a person who risks death in defense of a submarine sandwich- what would that make you?

A hero hero?

A gyro martry?

I think Marinara could be good on a steak sandwich but not ketchup.

I take it you hav'nt spent much time near the Delaware river, they get worked up about the cheesesteaks. I find cheese-whiz disgusting as well. I prefer Provolone myself, which is barely considered acceptable to the Purists, but no one else bats an eye.

^^^Never been there, some ancestors were from PA but that was before Philly Cheesesteaks existed, like the 1700's.
The cafe I worked at served them but they used mozzarella.

I don't eat steak but if I did, I would want the Provolone too.

BTW, Purists in Philly get upset if you have anything other than Cheese-Whiz on it.

This is why I prefer Reubens.

Ketchup isn't a condiment associated with deli or sub sandwiches. It's more of a hamburger/hot dog thing and that is why. Though I know of some hamburger establishments that don't and refuse to serve ketchup for some stupid reason.

Ketchup is mostly served in french fry places and maybe in some minds it is linked to unhealthy fatty foods so it is taboo in the Subways as they sell themselves as super healthy. I, personally, think cold cuts are unhealthy because I am terribly allergic to ingredients such as sodium nitrate. Makes my stomach swell and it is so uncomfortable.

It's more of a chip thing.

Personally, I prefer a little horseradish or stone-ground mustard on my Philly Cheese-Steak Sandwiches, and malt vinegar and salt (maybe a little paprika) on my chips.

The chips I prefer still have the skins on, and are cooked just long enough to put a crisp on the outside and turn the insides into a creamy delight.

Hot dogs are good with ketchup and mustard together. I can only eat those premium ones from Oscar Myer though. It's another preservative issue. I took some Jenny-O turkey franks camping and it was the mistake of my life. Had to exist on nothing but apples and oatmeal after day 1.

I get the Oscar Meyer Premium beef but I rarely eat them. It's been probably close to a year since I had one. I am pretty sure it says no preservatives on the package, though my memory is sketchy. It says no fillers, I am pretty sure. Whatever the situation, I can eat them without having any problems.

Last hotdogs I had were the turkey ones and I thought they were healthier...
